Actor Lee Sang-yi will star as detective Lee Dong-jin, who pursues Kingfisher, in the MBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Married Killer,' which premieres on the 31st.
"Once a goal is set, I go until the end"... Lee Sang-yi's determination as the 'Black Wolf'
Actor Lee Sang-yi will meet viewers as an intense detective character through MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Married Killer,' which is set to premiere on the 31st at 9:50 PM.
In this work, Lee Sang-yi plays Inspector Lee Dong-jin of the Violent Crimes Team 2 at the Southern Police Station. Lee Dong-jin is an ace detective with one of the highest crime arrest rates, a man who leads the investigation under the belief of just legal judgment while relentlessly pursuing the criminal 'Kingfisher.'
The images Lee Sang-yi has defined for Lee Dong-jin are 'Black Wolf' and 'Mole.' He explained the character's appearance and behavior, saying, "The fact that he often wears black and his persistent pursuit to catch Kingfisher remind me of a wolf." He added, "His way of digging deep into cases is similar to a mole, and determination is also an indispensable element in describing Dong-jin."
Forecasting a heavy performance that contrasts with his usual playful demeanor, Lee Sang-yi also spoke about his synchronicity with the character. He stated, "Just as Lee Dong-jin pushes through until the end once he sets the goal of catching Kingfisher with his own hands, I also have a tendency to see things through once I set a goal."
To express the character's inner self, Lee Sang-yi focused on maintaining a serious and heavy attitude instead of his usual self. He shared, "I am usually quite playful, but since Dong-jin is a serious person, I kept that in mind. As a character who has been chasing Kingfisher for a long time, I tried to portray him as someone who always has that presence in his mind."
Suspense based on a webtoon... A 'multiplex' containing action, romance, and more
MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Married Killer' is based on the Kakao Webtoon of the same name. Depicting the double life and struggles of a working mom with the most brutal job in the world, the work is characterized by a composition that includes action, pursuit, family, and romance. Lee Sang-yi defined this work as a 'multiplex-like drama.'
Despite the existence of the original work, the reason Lee Sang-yi chose this drama is the unique tension it possesses. He stated, "Even though it's a work with an original webtoon where you know who the criminal is from the start, the thrilling suspense felt very interesting."
The cast includes Lee Sang-yi, Gong Hyo-jin, and Jung Jun-won. It is planned by Kwon Seong-chang, written by Kim Eun-hee, and directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hoon. Production is jointly participated in by Bon Factory, Baram Pictures, and Studio PIM.
Meanwhile, Lee Sang-yi urged viewers to tune in for the premiere on the 31st at 9:50 PM, saying, "Since we have prepared our best with many people, we will show you new fun. Please watch to see if I can catch Kingfisher."
