BOYNEXTDOOR's 'I Love You Only Today', 'Emotional Exhaustion' becomes the answer amidst difficulty guessing lyrics

A fierce dictation battle took place over the lyrics of the new song by the representative 5th generation boy group BOYNEXTDOOR. On the tvN variety program 'Amazing Saturday', the cast members were shown experiencing confusion while attempting to guess the lyrics of the title track 'I Love You Only Today (Hey you, come on)', a digital single released by BOYNEXTDOOR in January 2025.

"Music is emotional exhaustion"... Cast members 'confused' by the twist keyword in the lyrics

In the video, unlike the bright atmosphere of the song, the cast members had difficulty guessing a specific expression contained in the lyrical content. The part "Honestly speaking, music is nothing but emotional exhaustion, so writing lyrics and playing the guitar is even more embarrassing" served as a decisive variable.

The cast members offered various speculations regarding the expression following 'Music is nothing but'. Some cast members caused confusion by answering that they heard 'possibility', 'noise', or 'taste'. In particular, during the process of finding the core keyword 'emotional exhaustion', the process of deducing the sentence "Music is nothing but emotional exhaustion" proceeded urgently. The cast members continued their reasoning toward the correct answer, offering different interpretations regarding the 'negative expression' or 'emotional part' contained in the lyrics. For example, one cast member deduced the sentence "Music is nothing but emotional exhaustion" and added an interpretation to the effect that it is strange to ask for emotions to be recognized excessively.

Han Hye-jin's performance and the answer created by 'N's choice

In this battle, the performance of cast member Han Hye-jin was prominent. Han Hye-jin showed high concentration, such as being named in the 'Hall of Fame' after getting consecutive correct answers in previous rounds.

At the final decisive moment, the cast members agonized to grasp the flow of the lyrics. In particular, in the process of filling in the blank "Music is nothing but [ ]", they put their heads together to derive the correct answer 'emotional exhaustion'. According to the conversation in the video, the cast members inferred the answer based on the meaning of the lyrics and the similarity of pronunciation. One cast member showed signs of contemplating by mentioning 'Park n' or 'N' as the syllable to follow 'exhaustion', and eventually suggested the direction toward the correct answer by saying, "Let's go with N." As a result, the sentence "Music is nothing but emotional exhaustion, so writing lyrics and playing the guitar is even more embarrassing" was confirmed as the correct answer, and the cast members showed the joy of the moment they worked together to get the answer right.

BOYNEXTDOOR's song, the meaning of confession contained in the lyrics

BOYNEXTDOOR's 'I Love You Only Today', which was the subject of this question, is a song containing the content of a confession set against the backdrop of Jeju Island. The part "writing lyrics and playing the guitar is even more embarrassing" in the lyrics was found to contain a psychological description of expressing emotions excessively.

The cast members approached the answer by linking the keywords 'playing the guitar' and 'embarrassing' in the lyrics. According to the song information released by the production team, this song contains the content of confessing honestly rather than appealing to emotions excessively, set against the backdrop of Jeju Island. This dictation battle is meaningful in that it acted as a difficult problem for the cast members due to the detailed expressive power of the lyrics, which contrasts with the cheerful melody of the song.
