Baek Seon-cheol and Lee Yeol-eum, the mismatched romance between a delivery worker and a top star
A meeting between a delivery part-timer and a top star; ENA's new drama 'Dreaming of You' has teased a youth romance in their 20s by releasing couple stills of Baek Seong-cheol and Lee Yeol-eum.
A Bittersweet Tale of Two Youths: The Divergent Paths of a Supporting Actor and a Top Star
Actors Baek Seong-cheol and Lee Yeol-eum portray the love that blooms in their 20s amidst contrasting environments. The production team of ENA's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Dream to You' has released couple stills featuring Baek Seong-cheol as Shim Yu-geon and Lee Yeol-eum as Oh Ha-na. In the photos, the two gaze deeply at each other on a rooftop, creating a subtle tension. The fresh yet heart-fluttering atmosphere hints at the changing relationship between the two.
The circumstances of the two characters are starkly different. Shim Yu-geon, played by Baek Seong-cheol, is a supporting actor who dreams of becoming the 'Takeshi Kaneshiro of Korea' and endures solely on the belief that 'hard work never betrays.' While he is accustomed to a life where he is called by his roles rather than his name, working part-time delivery jobs to make a living, he constantly chooses the field over a stable path, waiting for his opportunity.
On the other hand, Oh Ha-na, played by Lee Yeol-eum, is a person born into the spotlight. Influenced by her mother, an actress and former Miss Korea, she grew up under the public eye. Although she is in an environment others would envy, she is a character with a bold personality who dreams of a life outside the film sets and wishes to find her own direction. The meeting between Shim Yu-geon, who never gives up on his dream, and Oh Ha-na, who stands on the glamorous stage, leads to an unexpected connection.
Forms of Love Connecting First Love in Teens to Reunions in 30s
'Dream to You' draws realistic empathy through three different textures of love. The central axis is the reunion of genius film director Woo Su-bin (played by Hwang In-yeop) and Ju Yi-jae (played by Lee Hye-ri), a reporter living for survival after forgetting her dreams. It captures the process of a first love from their teenage years meeting again in their 30s after 15 years. The story unfolds as they rewrite an unfinished film and an unended love.
Added to this is the fresh love in their 20s that Baek Seong-cheol and Lee Yeol-eum will showcase, offering a romance with a different texture from the emotional line of the Hwang In-yeop and Lee Hye-ri couple. Furthermore, the relationship between Seo In-uk, played by Lee Sang-yeob, and Choi Sa-rang, played by Lee Ji-min, expands the drama's spectrum by depicting the unpredictable love of adults. Comprising a total of 12 episodes, this drama presents love stories across various age groups.
The Meeting of Director Yoo Sun-dong and Writer Jung Eun-bi
Direction is handled by Director Yoo Sun-dong, who has proven his directing skills through 'Trigger' and 'The Uncanny Counter 1 & 2.' Director Yoo plans to implement a refreshing first-love atmosphere. The script was written by Jung Eun-bi, who participated in hit series such as 'Mr. Sunshine,' 'Goblin,' and 'Doom at Your Service.'
KT Studio Genie is in charge of planning, and Content Planner is handling production. The drama will premiere on ENA on the 13th at 10 PM, and viewers can also watch it through KT Genie TV and TVING.
Between Reality and Dreams: The Temperature Difference Faced by Youth
The contrast between Shim Yu-geon and Oh Ha-na in the released stills is visually distinct. Unlike Oh Ha-na, who receives glamorous spotlights, Shim Yu-geon wanders from site to site while struggling with the cost of living. This environmental difference is a key point that determines the influence they have on each other and the flow of their relationship. The struggles of youth, wavering between the desire for dreams and the immediate reality, are embedded throughout the drama.
The core narrative of this drama is how the unfinished dreams from 15 years ago intertwine with present lives, and how the love in one's 20s and 30s carries different weights.
