Kwon Hae-hyo has told Park Yoo-na that he will keep his place as her father until "my daughter Gyu-yeong" is on firmer ground, a turn that raises the tension in the drama Love on the Menu. The series follows the effort to gather the fragments of a broken family and build a warm life from them, and its web of relationships has now entered a new phase.

Fake businesses and a second household

Park Yoo-na's trouble goes beyond a clash of personalities. The crisis began when it came out that she had hidden her father's real status and acted as if she came from a wealthy family, and the truth about her in-laws then surfaced. According to information passed on by Jang Won-tae, Gyu-yeong's parents-in-law have records that include fraud, and they served prison terms for extortion, threats and defamation. The business her father-in-law supposedly runs is a ghost company, and the gallery her mother-in-law supposedly runs is an illegal bar. Things worsened further when it emerged that her husband, Kang Seong-uk, is still keeping two households, with a woman he lived with before meeting Gyu-yeong. Elsewhere in the story, an item known as a luxury good turns out to be a fake, and the conflict between the characters goes on.

"Clothes that did not suit me" and a father's pledge

Park Yoo-na resolves to end her marriage. She tells her husband she had been wearing clothes that did not suit her at all: they may have looked glamorous and dazzling to others, but she felt anxious and uncomfortable the whole time she wore them. She says she wants no alimony and that she has enjoyed more than enough, too much to ever repay the kindness she received. The other party asks her to wait a little on the divorce because he has matters to deal with first, and suggests keeping it secret from Seo-yeon for now. Amid the turmoil, Kwon Hae-hyo makes clear he will help. He urges Park Yoo-na to end the marriage before it is too late and says he will assist if she needs it. When she asks whether he is not, after all, her father, he answers that a man married to her mother is also her father. He stresses that he will hold that place until Gyu-yeong has found her footing and become happier, and that it is simply what he ought to do.
