NMIXX describes members as muses in new 'Strange Muse' album

Appearing on Spotify Korea's 'K-Pop ON! RECORD', NMIXX explained that their new album 'Strange Muse' features three different unit songs and explores themes of personal growth and mutual inspiration.

The group NMIXX defined the members as "muses" who serve as sources of inspiration for one another while sharing the message of their new album. Appearing on Spotify Korea's video podcast 'K-Pop ON! RECORD', NMIXX shared the influences members had on each other and the meanings embedded in the songs of their new album, 'Strange Muse'.

"Inspiration for each other"... Bond continuing from trainee days

As the theme of this album is for the members to become each other's muses, the members expressed deep trust and respect for one another. Jiyu described LILY as a "genius with 99% talent and 99% effort," stating she was a source of motivation that helped her overcome the feelings of helplessness she felt during her trainee days. Hyewon added that Jiyu is like a "cool older sister" because of how she approaches every moment of practice and lessons with sincerity.

Stories of consideration for one another and personal growth also continued. SULLYOON confessed that while adjusting to the community of the team after debut, she learned a lot from BAE, who takes meticulous care of the staff and members. The members emphasized the bond that serves as the foundation for this promotion, stating, "It is because of these times built up since our trainee days that this album can exist."

From Bibimbap to romance: Diverse colors of unit songs

NMIXX explained the musical diversity of the album by comparing its composition to food and film genres. The members compared the album to "bibimbap, where you can taste diverse flavors." This was based on the assessment that the musical spectrum has become much wider than previous albums, as it contains three different unit songs.

Specific descriptions of the unit songs followed. The unit song by Hyewon and SULLYOON was introduced as a ballad genre that differs from the team's songs and evokes nostalgia from their trainee days. On the other hand, they conveyed the mood of the song by mentioning that certain parts of the lyrics are very "chill," making them difficult to sing. Regarding the overall mood of the album, they explained that since the members participated in writing the lyrics themselves, it resembles the film genre of "emotional romance" or stories of those experiencing growing pains.

Title track 'A Long Wish', the birth of an unstoppable muse

The title of the title track, 'A Long Wish', reflects NMIXX's unique worldview. The members stated, "In the diversely shining Mixxtopia, muses are constantly being born," explaining that the title carries the meaning that everyone constantly makes wishes for one another in a space where a birthday party for a new muse is held every day.

An in-depth interpretation of the lyrics was also provided. The members pointed to the lyric "Facing you from a different dimension," saying it expresses the miraculous moment when individuals with different worlds meet. Regarding the stage performance, they shared that they worked to visually implement the concept of the song, such as intentionally producing an expression with "no light in the eyes" to give an AI-like feeling.

At the end of the broadcast, the members shared personal wishes they want to achieve before the year ends and took time to blow out candles. Through this promotion, the members continued to cheer for one another along with their own individual wishes.
