Jung Ye-in, formerly of Lovelyz, transforms into a villainous character in a 1980s drama. 'Codename: Villainous Stepmother,' an original short-form drama presented by SLL in collaboration with the global short-form drama platform GoodShort, will be released worldwide on July 22. The series consists of 60 episodes, each approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds long.

The story follows 'Seol-hwa,' a former agent who lost her life while performing a mission, as she possesses the body of a villainous stepmother in a 1980s drama. To change her predetermined fate of death, Seol-hwa struggles to survive while protecting three children with the help of a system. The series centers on the fast-paced development and condensed narrative characteristic of short-form dramas.

The lead roles are played by Jung Ye-in and actor Han Jeong-wan. Directed by Yang Ho-seok and written by Yoon Yu, the production is overseen by PD Kim Ji-won. Due to the genre's requirement to maintain tension within a short timeframe, the actors' high-density acting skills are the core of the work.

This project is based on an original IP that gained popularity by recording over 1 million views on a global short-form platform. The proven narrative has been newly produced to suit Korean sentiments.

SLL used its existing production capabilities in dramas, variety shows, and digital content as the foundation for entering the short-form market. Through collaboration with GoodShort, a global platform operated by Singapore's New Reading Technology (Singapore New Reading Technology Pte. Ltd.), SLL aims to confirm the potential for the global expansion of Korean-style short-form content.

A Record from May Crank-in to June Wrap-up

The production team of 'Codename: Villainous Stepmother' began filming (crank-in) on May 22 and conducted intensive filming for about a month. All filming was completed on June 1. Despite the short production period, filming proceeded in a lively atmosphere, with a procession of coffee trucks arriving to support the actors and crew.

Since the end of filming, post-production is currently underway to enhance the quality of the work. As soon as post-production is completed, it will be distributed worldwide through the global platform on the 22nd.
