From Actor to Painter: Lee Tae-seong's Surprising New Chapter Painting 'Relationships'
Actor Lee Tae-seong has opened the second chapter of his life, moving beyond acting to become a painter. Appearing on MBN's 'Dongchimi' broadcast on the 11th, Lee Tae-seong revealed that the drawing he casually started during his military service has changed his current life.
It all began with him picking up a pen during his time in the military. While he initially used colored pencils, he dove into serious work using paints after his discharge. This pursuit, which has continued for over a decade, has gained enough depth for him to hold personal exhibitions. Lee Tae-seong identified 'relationships' as the core theme that runs through his artistic world.
Lee Tae-seong was also the one leading the atmosphere in the studio that day. MC Lee Hyun welcomed him, saying, "A visual rarely seen on Dongchimi." Kim Hyo-jin shared the atmosphere on set, noting that Lee Tae-seong was seen surrounded by female production staff in the waiting room. Cast members including Hyun Young and Noh Sa-yeon made jealous jokes about his presence. Noh Sa-yeon even teased Hyun Young, asking, "Why does your body keep leaning toward him?"
"It's Not Addiction, It's a Routine"... From Cleaning Floors to Sandwiches
Regarding the broadcast topic of 'addiction,' Lee Tae-seong revealed his own philosophy. While stating, "Every area of life starts with addiction and ends with addiction," he defined it not as a negative addiction, but as his own personal 'routine.'
The most recent routine to captivate him was 'cleaning.' As an owner of two pet dogs, he expressed his affection for them, saying, "I feel anxious if the floor isn't clean." In particular, his confession that he once crawled on the floor with his face close to it to try and understand his dogs' perspective turned the studio into a sea of laughter. He followed up with a specific anecdote about how much more dust he could see when he was close to the floor.
His eating habits also followed a firm routine. Lee Tae-seong revealed that out of 365 days a year, he eats a sandwich for his first meal on 300 of them. This is because eating rice makes his body feel heavy all day. Hyun Young asked what he eats for the remaining 65 days.
His immersion in hobbies was also extraordinary. Recently, he has been obsessed with space documentaries; while studying the colors of black hole photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, his interest naturally expanded into the realm of quantum mechanics. His pattern of deep immersion, which began with learning the daegeum (traditional flute) in elementary school, continued through the guitar, piano, and saxophone, and even extended to his activities as a baseball player.
Between Addiction and Habit: A Playful Debate Among the Cast
As Lee Tae-seong's confessions continued, a debate about addiction broke out among the panelists. When Kim Yong-man asked Um Young-soo, "You're an icon of three marriages, is that also an addiction?" Choi Hong-rim countered, "It's not an addiction, it's a habit." Detective Im Byeong-su added a joking response, saying, "I've seen up to six marriages."
Um Young-soo claimed to be a workaholic, saying, "Marriage is also a job. It takes too long to settle a marriage, so I don't have any more time." He shared various life experiences regarding addiction while mentioning the book he released last year. Um Young-soo cited examples he saw at a Korean scholarship ceremony in the Eastern United States, telling stories of a person who went on 40 cruise trips and someone who suffered from three types of cancer and underwent chemotherapy 40 times.
