"He told me to become an English teacher..." Cha Jung-won recalls Jung Yong-hwa's unexpected debut story
Actress Cha Jung-won revealed her special friendship with CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa, which has lasted since their first year of high school. Appearing on the SBS variety show 'Ani Geunde Jinjja!' aired on the 13th, Cha Jung-won shared an anecdote from their past with Jung Yong-hwa.
Recalling those days, Cha Jung-won said, "As far as I knew, Jung Yong-hwa had absolutely no interest in the entertainment industry." Cha, who dreamed of becoming an actress, had suggested they go together to an acting academy in Seomyeon, Busan, but Jung reportedly declined, saying, "Let's just study hard and become English teachers."
At that time, representatives from large agencies frequently traveled down to Busan for street casting. Cha was so passionate that she would go out every day to wait whenever she heard news that someone from Seoul was coming, but one day, Jung Yong-hwa suddenly became unreachable. Cha explained the situation at the time, saying, "I heard the news through a friend who attended the same school as Jung Yong-hwa. Someone came from Seoul and took Yong-hwa away."
Jung Yong-hwa had been cast by agency representatives and had left for Seoul. Upon learning this later, Cha Jung-won called Jung Yong-hwa to say she was sorry. Jung also confessed that although he initially refused, after hearing the proposal, he found himself wanting to pursue a career in entertainment. Cha shared her feelings from that moment, saying, "When I first saw Jung Yong-hwa on TV wearing a tie and singing, I felt a mix of being glad and seeing him look so cool that I felt a sudden surge of heat in my heart."
A 'gag character' side even Ha Jung-woo didn't know: The unexpected charm of a fashion icon with 1 million followers
In today's broadcast, Cha Jung-won showed a side full of variety sense, contrary to her usual calm image. Appearing alongside Ivy and Joo Hyun-young, Cha led the atmosphere on set by skillfully following the MCs' requests, including singing, dancing, and even mimicking Lee Sang-min's rap.
Cha Jung-won said, "Because my voice is low, many people misunderstand me as being calm and quiet. I tend to stay quiet because I feel like I have to meet those expectations." She particularly made the set burst into laughter by mentioning actor Ha Jung-woo, saying, "Even my boyfriend hasn't seen this side of me, so he might be surprised when he sees the broadcast."
Ivy, a friend of 10 years, testified about Cha Jung-won's real personality, saying, "She is very shy at first, but once she opens up, she is as cute as I am." Lee Su-ji referred to Cha Jung-won as a "wannabe for women in their 20s and 30s," pointing out her influence as a fashion icon with over 1 million followers on social media. Joo Hyun-young also expressed her fandom, saying she actually follows Cha Jung-won's casual fashion style quite often.
Regarding her styling secrets, Cha Jung-won revealed, "Many people wonder if a stylist coordinates my casual outfits, but I coordinate everything myself with my own clothes." Meanwhile, Cha Jung-won shared an episode from her past where her hair was cut after she secretly applied for the Department of Theater and Film through early admissions without her father's knowledge.
