Yoo Seung-ho uses the nickname 'Dungi' for BIBI... 750 pyeong of wasteland
In EBS 'The Last Humanity', Yoo Seung-ho and BIBI explored the 750-pyeong wasteland LEO, exchanging nicknames 'Dung-i' and 'Yujop'.
The special nickname Yoo Seung-ho gave to BIBI: "Lovely Doong-i"
Actor Yoo Seung-ho and WOODZ showed an extraordinary bond amidst extreme environments. In the 7th episode of the EBS 1TV anniversary special 'The Last Humanity,' airing on the 16th at 10:50 PM, seven crew members embark on a final challenge for human survival in a vast wasteland where life has vanished.
Before diving into the full-scale mission, the crew members, who were resting inside the base, shared their first impressions and how they had changed. Yoo Seung-ho, born in 1993, and BIBI, born in 1998, have a five-year age difference. Yoo Seung-ho expressed his affection for BIBI, calling her a "lovely mood maker," and gave her the nickname 'Doong-i.'
BIBI also responded to Yoo Seung-ho's silent consideration and sense of responsibility. She mentioned that Yoo Seung-ho's handsome appearance and the way he always moves first to take care of those around him reminded her of a spirea plant, so she gifted him the nickname 'Yu-jopap.'
The enthusiasm for creating nicknames continued among the crew members. Dr. Jang Dong-seon gave Lee Eun-ji, who reads people's hearts well and grasps every situation to see everyone's world together, the name 'Mose,' short for 'Everyone's World.' Lee Eun-ji called Lee Nak-jun, who embraces the members more warmly than anyone else, 'Hot Pack.'
Dr. Jang Hong-je gave Kim Han-Kyul, who said she thought of a female US soldier when she first saw him, the nickname 'Lara' from Tomb Raider. Dr. Jang Hong-je himself left a strong impression from his first appearance wearing a ghillie suit, earning the name 'Ghillie Boy.' Dr. Jang Dong-seon, who defended bacteria throughout the broadcast, was unanimously given the nickname 'Bacteria Man.'
The mystery of LEO, a 2,500-square-meter wasteland: The survival task of reviving the soil
The crew members stepped into 'LEO (Landscape Evolution Observatory),' an unknown space that has never been revealed even inside Biosphere 2. This is a massive wasteland measuring 2,500 square meters, a barren land where it is difficult to find even traces of life, let alone plants. LEO is the world's largest soil landscape evolution observation facility, a space for studying how soil with almost no life transforms into the foundation of an ecosystem over time.
The core of this mission is the 'last survival experiment of humanity,' which involves reviving primordial soil, where organic matter has completely disappeared, back into living soil so that the dormant seeds within can sprout. They must prove that before technology, a foundation where life can circulate is necessary for humans to survive.
Just like the connectivity of life emphasized by ecologist Edward Wilson, the collapse of a single small ecosystem can ultimately lead to a crisis of human existence. Through this mission, the crew members face the most fundamental question: 'the recovery of the land,' which is even more primal than the restoration of food, atmospheric pressure, or marine ecosystems.
As soon as the mission began, the crew members encountered unexpected obstacles. Conflicts of opinion arose among the members to find solutions within the limited time, and urgent situations followed where a single small choice could determine the outcome.
In particular, Yoo Seung-ho and BIBI were placed in a dangerous environment where they had to perform their tasks while hanging in the air. With unexpected sudden situations occurring during the mission, the key to this episode is whether the two can succeed in breathing life into the land through cooperation.
