In the preview for episode 5, a hair-trigger situation is depicted where the protagonist Kang Tae-joo (played by Namkoong Min) finds the mysterious Kim Kyeong-ae (played by Lee Sang-hee) and points a gun directly at her.
With bloodshot eyes and a pale face, Kang Tae-joo pours out extreme rage toward Kim Kyeong-ae. The scene depicts Kang Tae-joo's emotional arc, which is on the verge of running wild with anger beyond despair while searching for his kidnapped wife. The moment Kim Kyeong-ae enters the house, the hidden Kang Tae-joo suddenly appears, marking their first encounter. The drama 'The Husband' is breaking records every episode. The 4th episode recorded a national viewership rating of 7.2% and a peak rating of 8.5% per minute according to Nielsen Korea, shattering its own previous records. Along with this, it ranked No. 1 on the 'Today's Top 10 Series in Korea' list on the global OTT platform Disney+ for two consecutive weeks.
The buzz is also evident in the data. In the drama TV-OTT search response for the second week of July announced by Good Data Corporation, 'The Husband' ranked in the TOP 2. In the cast category of drama search issue keywords, Lee Seol took 1st place, Kim Dae-myung 5th, and Lee Sang-hee 7th.
