Season 2 is a stylish action drama where Jian (played by Kim Hye-jun), the shopping mall CEO who has completed a harsh handover, joins forces with the returned Jin-man (played by Lee Dong-wook) to fight against the global force 'Babylon'. Following the global syndrome caused by Season 1, which was released in 2024 and drew attention from foreign media such as the New York Times and Time magazine, the production of this Season 2 has continued.

The shock viewers felt when Jung Jin-man appeared in the final scene of Season 1 becomes the core driving force of Season 2. At the event, Lee Dong-wook explained, "When he returned at the end of Season 1, everyone was surprised, saying 'He didn't die.' Season 2 will focus on what Jung Jin-man was doing while Jung Ji-an was protecting the house, and the story of Jin-man unfolding in that process." Seemingly conscious of some reactions that his presence as a protagonist was insufficient in Season 1, Jung Jin-man's actions and narrative will be fully expanded in this season.

Lee Dong-wook emphasized an attitude of not staying on the defensive while preparing for this season. He added, "I felt that if I only stayed on the defensive, it would never end, so I am launching a counterattack with the intention of bringing things to a conclusion. The amount of action has increased compared to Season 1, but I filmed hard just as I always do." Regarding his feelings about playing the character Jung Jin-man again, he expressed gratitude for the success of Season 1 and said it is an honor to continue playing Jung Jin-man.

The grown Jian and the emergence of a new villain

Jian's transformation is also a major pillar of this season. Kim Hye-jun is set to portray the multi-dimensional aspects of Jian, who has evolved from an ordinary college student into a shopping mall CEO. She teased the character's growth, saying, "In Season 2, she won't just be receiving attacks, but will launch a counterattack to protect those around her." In particular, unlike the Muay Thai action shown in Season 1, Season 2 will feature firearm action.

The emotional exchange and confrontation between the adult Jian and her uncle Jin-man will also be dealt with in depth. A major point of interest is how Jian lives while clashing with her uncle after stepping into the world of killers. Kim Hye-jun said, "It seems like we will see Jian unconsciously resembling her uncle, and her emotional changes as she comes to understand him will be depicted."

The enemies' forces have also become stronger. Director Lee Kwon chose 'counterattack' as the keyword for this season. He stated, "In the process of solving the questions left by Season 1, such as 'What kind of organization is Babylon?' and 'Why are they attacking Jung Jin-man?', the universe naturally expanded." While Season 1 shares some similarities with the original work, some settings were adapted, so Season 2 will develop as a separate flow from the original.

'Killer's Shopping Mall Season 2' will be released on Disney+ starting with episodes 1 and 2 on the 22nd, with two episodes released every Wednesday, totaling 8 episodes.
