PSY heads to Gwangju amid heatwave; venue and entry time changed
Due to a heatwave forecast of 35°C, the entry time for PSY Summer Swag in Gwangju has been changed to 4:30 PM. The venue has also been confirmed as Chosun University Stadium to prevent damage to the grass.
Singer PSY has unveiled the stage production for his major summer project. PSY recently shared stage photos on his social media featuring the "PSY Summer Swag 2026 Long Distance Running" concept. The images show a vibrant blue-themed arch structure installed over an outdoor basketball court, with illustrations of figures in running gear on either side of the arch to add a sense of dynamism. PSY captioned the post with "welcomes youuu."
Entry time pushed back 30 minutes and ticket exchange schedule changed due to heatwave forecast
The Gwangju performance is scheduled for the 8th at 6 PM at the Chosun University Stadium in Dong-gu, Gwangju. With the daytime high in Gwangju forecasted to soar to 35°C, on-site operations have been adjusted. Physical ticket exchange and on-site MD sales will both begin at 2 PM. However, to protect spectators from the extreme heat, the actual venue entry time has been pushed back by 30 minutes to 4:30 PM. Attendees presenting their tickets when parking at the venue will receive a discounted parking rate of 1,000 won. In anticipation of large crowds, relevant agencies including the police, fire department, and local government are preparing heatwave countermeasures and will manage on-site safety.
The change in venue from the original plan was due to stadium management issues. PSY had initially planned to perform at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium, but concerns were raised among football fans regarding potential damage to the turf. Consequently, Gwangju FC officially announced they would not approve the venue rental, leading to the change to Chosun University Stadium. Unlike previous years, this Gwangju performance will be held for just one day.
