A Ministry Official's Twist: Sharing Chuseok Traffic Achievements While Reading Comments with 2.6 Million Views

A video regarding the special Chuseok holiday traffic measures by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has attracted unusual interest, surpassing 2.6 million views. Deputy Director Kim Jeong-hyeon of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport recently took time to communicate with the public by personally checking approximately 2,000 comments left on the video.

In the video, Deputy Director Kim Jeong-hyeon shared the achievements of the policies by revealing traffic statistics for this Chuseok holiday period. According to data compiled by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the total number of people who traveled during this Chuseok holiday reached 37.05 million. The number of vehicles using highways averaged 6.9 million per day, a 12.6% increase from last year, showing a significant rise in travel demand.

Although the traveling population increased, traffic safety indicators were shown to have improved. The daily average number of traffic accidents decreased by 50.8% compared to the previous year, and the number of fatalities also fell by 41.5%, confirming that a safer holiday environment was created despite the increase in travel volume.

From Railways to Advanced Aviation, Deputy Director Kim Fosters the Drone Industry

The recent status of Deputy Director Kim, who took on new duties through a recent departmental transfer, was also shared. He stated that he worked in the Railway Operation Safety Division until recently, but moved to the Advanced Aviation Division about 3 to 4 weeks ago and is now in charge of drone-related work. In the video, Deputy Director Kim explained, "I have rarely seen drones, but in the Advanced Aviation Division, I mainly work on fostering the drone industry."

Deputy Director Kim is currently performing duties such as establishing policies and executing budgets to grow Korea's drone industry competitively. In the video, Deputy Director Kim responded honestly to various questions and joking comments from viewers. To a question asking for the reason behind his diet failure, he drew laughter by answering, "I considered taking diet medicine but didn't, I didn't exercise much, and above all, I failed to control it while eating coconut latte flavored cookies and rice crackers in the company pantry and study cafes." Additionally, regarding a question about whether he would start a YouTube channel, he mentioned his experience filming 'Study with me' videos during his past exam preparation days, admitting he could not continue due to the difficulty of video production. He added that while he filmed for about a day back then, the number of simultaneous viewers was at most 1 to 2 people, saying, "It would go up if I did it consistently, but I quit because it didn't seem easy."

He also showed a positive response to suggestions filled with fan sentiment from viewers. Regarding a request to make a keyring that resembles him, Deputy Director Kim replied, "If the citizens like it, there is no reason I can't," adding, "It's embarrassing, but if it is the demand of the citizens, I will not refuse." Meanwhile, when asked about dancing in the video, Deputy Director Kim expressed his ambition, saying, "I did it last year and applied again this time," and "I am not good at dancing, but I will learn well so I can dance to some extent and show you next time."
