"If 350,000 people gather, it will be a world record"... Sean's challenge of 50 billion steps
Singer Sean has announced ambitious goals for the '2026 Long Run' project conducted with Kakao Pay, aiming to reach 50 billion cumulative steps and recruit 350,000 participants to break world records. The project includes a tiered donation system for small business owners and the opening of a showroom in Seongsu-dong to support local brands.
Singer Sean has presented a new goal to break world records for running competitions. Through the '2026 Long Run' project conducted with Kakao Pay, Sean revealed the challenging goals of achieving 50 billion cumulative steps and recruiting 350,000 participants.
"If we exceed 346,527 people, we will be number one in the world"... Specific figures aiming for a new record
Sean clarified that the goal of this project goes beyond simple donations to challenging global records. He explained that to achieve a world record as a single running event, more than 346,527 participants are required. Sean emphasized, "Please gather just 350,000 of our fellow citizens," adding, "If we do that, it will become the event with the largest number of people gathered worldwide as a single running event, making us number one."
Last year's Long Run project set a Korean record with a total of 22.5 billion steps collected over 17 days. Sean added, "Last year we set a Korean record, but honestly, I have a desire to break the world record," and "If 175,000 people each introduce just one person, we can gather 350,000 people."
1.5 billion won donation upon reaching 50 billion steps... 3-stage mission activated
The scale of donations has also expanded compared to last year. This '2026 Long Run' operates under a 3-stage mission system where donation amounts accumulate step-by-step according to the cumulative number of steps. Upon reaching 10 billion steps, 500 million won will be donated; upon reaching 30 billion steps, an additional 500 million won will be added; and if the final goal of 50 billion steps is reached, a total of 1.5 billion won will be delivered to small business owners. The structure is such that simply turning on the Kakao Pay pedometer and walking results in a donation of 1 won per step.
Sean stated, "I believe in the passion of last year's participants," and "This year, we have devised fun ways such as prizes and benefits so that more participants can enjoy participating." In particular, a new 'Crew Race' has been prepared this year, where people can invite family, friends, and running crew members to walk together and check rankings. The online competition is open to participants nationwide for 30 days from 14:00 on October 20 to 23:59 on November 18, and the offline competition will be held for 5,000 people as a single 10km course at Misa Motorboat Racing Park in Hanam at 9:00 AM on November 28. Offline competition tickets will be on sale from 14:00 on October 20.
'Together for a Long Time Store' established in Seongsu-dong... Connecting brands and small business owners
As an extension of this project, a space called 'Together for a Long Time Store' has been prepared in Seongsu-dong. This space carries the meaning that it is a space created by the 260,000 citizens who participated in last year's Long Run. Beyond being a simple shop that sells products, it serves as a showroom that conveys the stories of small business owner brands.
The space consists of five themed areas under the message that 'small discoveries create new beginnings.' It includes spaces that introduce the sincerity and tradition of brands, spaces to discover senses, and spaces that pose questions about lifestyles through everyday discoveries. Visitors can experience products from small business owner brands here, and upon purchasing a usage pass, they are provided with coins for refreshments and coupons to participate in a lucky draw. The payment amount is structured to be donated to small business owners.
