Dump Truck–Bus Crash and a Dead Fingerprint Scanner Leave Gye Su-jeong Operating Short-Handed in 'Doctor X'
In SBS's Doctor X, a dump truck–bus collision throws Goseong University Hospital into chaos, and Gye Su-jeong must perform urgent surgery herself. The episodes also feature a contested aneurysm clipping and the arrival of surgeon Jang Seung-jo.

A collision between a dump truck and a bus sends Goseong University Hospital into disarray in SBS's Doctor X, and when the operating room's fingerprint scanner fails, Gye Su-jeong is left to carry out urgent surgery herself.
When the hospital's calm broke
The crash, caused by drowsy driving, left many casualties and plunged the Goseong University Hospital emergency room into extreme confusion. Roads were closed and medical staff were restricted in their movements, yet the emergency room and surgical team kept moving urgently. The episodes of the SBS Friday-Saturday drama Doctor X, featuring Kim Ji-won and Jang Seung-jo, combine an urgent surgical situation with an unexpected accident, raising both friction among the medical staff and the tension. Gye Su-jeong, who confronts the hospital's absurdities with genius surgical skill, is at the centre of it. The chaos in the emergency room spread to the operating room, where the fingerprint scanner stopped working. With support staff in short supply, Gye Su-jeong had to perform the emergency operation herself, while Kim Seong-jin proceeded with laparoscopic surgery (laparotomy) with the possibility of adhesion in mind. The medical team's struggle continued in a hospital pushed out of control by the accident.
A contested surgery, a contract surgeon and a patient who could not wait
The newly arrived surgeon Jang Seung-jo added fresh tension. He joined the surgical department on a contract basis and created an odd atmosphere when he met Gye Su-jeong and the other professors. Gye Su-jeong rejected social bonds and stayed strictly work-focused, while Jang Seung-jo appeared to recognise her sharp skills. Their relationship looks likely to be an important variable in what follows. The condition of the patient Gwang-chung also worsened rapidly. He had been suffering from gallbladder disease, and when he fell into an emergency, Gye Su-jeong judged that waiting until Monday was impossible and said she wanted to operate immediately. She and Jang Seung-jo exchanged professional views on the patient's condition, the surgery schedule and the state of his liver . One opinion put forward was that a scar from surgery 15 years earlier might have caused adhesion inside the liver.

In another thread, an aneurysm clipping was under way for a patient when a dispute broke out among the professors over whether the operation had been authorised. Professor Jo Yun-jin questioned its justification and reacted sharply to the surgery being forced through. Gye Su-jeong put the principle that the patient must be treated first and carried on. She pointed to the route the patient had taken through various parts of the hospital to reach her, stressing that the operation had to be completed to save the patient. Locating the site through a burr hole and finishing the clipping successfully was a scene that showed her expertise.

Afterwards, the hospital side noted that Gye Su-jeong is a cerebrovascular surgery specialist of outstanding ability and had already filled the staffing shortage at Seodae University Hospital. The discussion also covered the issue of billing costs related to her contract.
