From 85 to 100 in Math: NCT WISH's JAEHEE Brings His "Just Do It" Attitude to Achasan Mountain

NCT WISH's JAEHEE says he scored 85 on his first exam after he began studying math and 100 on the final exam when he graduated. He shared the story while hiking Achasan Mountain in Seoul, where he also talked about his outlook on life.

JAEHEE ended the hike at Goguryeojeong, the destination, where he took in the view of Seoul. Along the way he was seen sharing snacks with stray cats he met on the trail. "Sometimes you have to walk like this, by hiking. I only walk to the bathroom every day," he said, speaking about why hiking matters in daily life. He also said that if he hikes with the NCT WISH members in the future, he wants to take a commemorative photo.

"If I don't do it, I'll regret it"

In conversation during the hike, JAEHEE spoke about his study habits and attitude. He said there was a time when his middle school math scores were low, but once he started studying, he reached those results, which reflected a personality that sees through any goal he sets. "When I make up my mind to do something, I sometimes get tired, but I do it with the mindset that I should," he said, adding, "If I don't do it, I think I'll regret not having done it later." The attitude carries over to the Japanese he is currently studying. He said he is working to build his skills by tracing kanji to learn how to read them.

Empty stomach, mountaintop tricks and a passion for peaches

JAEHEE went to Achasan Mountain to make up for the hiking time that has shrunk since he began living in Seoul, and he started the climb on an empty stomach. At an exercise area near the summit, he showed off tricks he used to enjoy as a student and clearly had fun doing so. "When you hike, you just look straight at the path without thinking about anything, and that's really nice," he said. "You get into a state where you can focus only on the present, so distracting thoughts disappear."

Midway through the hike he snacked on gimbap and cookies he had brought along. He said he has recently fallen for peaches, and he distinguished in detail between the juicy, soft "mulbok" and the crisp, firm "ttakbok." He added that he loves them so much that he had eaten one the day before.

The video was released through "My Little Day" on Idol Human Theater, a KBS Kpop channel. It shows JAEHEE emptying his mind and focusing on the present through hiking, which he has loved since his school days.
