Seongmin, Hyojin, and Seungjun to meet on the 31-year-old 'Jinpoom Myeongpum'
Sungmin and ONF's Hyojin and Seungjun will appear as show appraisers for the 1527th episode of KBS 1TV 'TV Show Jinpummyeongpum'.
Three singers from the K-pop stage meet on a traditional art appraisal program that has been running for 31 years. Sungmin, formerly of Super Junior, along with ONF's Hyojin and Seungjun, will appear as the "Show Appraisal Panel" on episode 1527 of KBS 1TV’s ‘TV Show Authentic Value’ on the 21st at 11:10 AM. The focus of the broadcast lies not in who earns a higher score, but in the process of idol vocalists and performance members, who have walked different paths, deducing the value of ancient objects.
Sungmin, Hyojin, and Seungjun meeting outside the idol stage
Sungmin is a singer who has continued solo and trot activities after debuting with Super Junior in 2005. After releasing his first trot single ‘Love is Prickly,’ he expanded his genre with songs like ‘Yo.Yo.Yo.,’ and in this appearance, his image as an idol group lead vocalist and the friendly conversational style built on trot stages can be revealed together.
Hyojin and Seungjun are members of ONF, who recently began promotions for their second full-length album part 2, ‘ONF:MY SELF.’ The title track ‘Open The Door’ is a song featuring a rock sound and a wide vocal range, showcasing both Hyojin's vocal core and Seungjun's performance sense. Therefore, their appearance on ‘Authentic Value’ is more than just a simple promotional appearance. The key point of interest is how they apply the observational skills and breathing they use on stage to unfamiliar ancient artworks.
The appraisal items for episode 1527 are paintings, ornaments, and ceramics
In this episode, a landscape painting by Mukro Lee Yong-woo, norigae (traditional ornaments), binyeo (hairpins), and ceramics will be introduced as appraisal items. ‘TV Show Authentic Value’ is a long-running program that has occupied the Sunday morning slot on KBS 1TV since its first broadcast in March 1995. The celebrity appraisal panel is not a place to reach conclusions like professional appraisers, but rather a role to estimate the use and era of the objects, encouraging viewers to guess along.
In that sense, the appearance of K-pop stars is a device to lower the barrier to the program. While antique appraisal may sound difficult, the actual fun of the broadcast comes from collectively guessing, "What was this object used for?" When guests with distinct fandoms like Sungmin, Hyojin, and Seungjun appear, younger viewers can naturally be introduced to stories of Joseon Dynasty ornaments or paintings by modern artists.
A meaningful TV touchpoint for ONF right after their comeback
ONF released ‘ONF:MY SELF’ and began promotions on the 17th. The album is filled with six songs, including ‘Open The Door,’ ‘Bad Dream,’ ‘Escape,’ ‘Mirage,’ ‘Silver Lining,’ and ‘Once In a Red Moon.’ While music shows and online content are direct stages aimed at the fandom, a Sunday morning terrestrial educational program is a place to meet viewers across a much wider age range.
For Sungmin, this appearance is also a stage where he can comfortably show his current position as a trot singer from an idol background. ‘Authentic Value’ is a program where eloquence, curiosity, and life sensibilities work better than fast-moving trends. The result of the appraisal battle between the three for the top prize can be confirmed during the broadcast. A more important checkpoint is how naturally the K-pop members show their own colors outside the stage they are familiar with.
