Shin Jung-hwan signs with new agency and becomes MC for 'Mystery Club'
Entertainer Shin Jung-hwan has signed an exclusive contract with Gorani Entertainment and is set to begin his full-scale activities by returning as the MC for season 2 of Comedy TV's 'Mystery Club - New Record'.
Resuming Full-Scale Activities with New Management
Broadcaster Shin Jung-hwan is resuming his broadcasting activities after signing a contract with a new agency. Shin recently signed an exclusive contract with Gorani Entertainment, a newly established management company. He plans to systematically continue his broadcasting activities in parallel with his current personal businesses, such as the food service and meal kit industries.
Gorani Entertainment was founded by CEO Jung Hyung-hwan of the content production company Content World. CEO Jung previously directed the 'Extreme Comparison' segment of SBS's 'Good Friends' and was responsible for selecting the then-rookie group Country Kko Kko. This connection has allowed CEO Jung and Shin Jung-hwan to maintain their relationship for about 20 years.
Joining as MC for Comedy TV's 'Mystery Club - Shin-gi-rok' Season 2
Shin Jung-hwan's comeback stage is Season 2 of the Comedy TV variety show 'Mystery Club - Shin-gi-rok'. Following the conclusion of Season 1 last March, the program has selected Shin Jung-hwan as the MC ahead of its broadcast resumption in June. Shin will lead the program as the host for this second season.
'Mystery Club - Shin-gi-rok' is a talk variety show that deals with mysteries and supernatural phenomena from around the world. Shin Jung-hwan will appear as an MC alongside comedian Park Young-jin and shaman Im Deok-young. Notably, Shin Jung-hwan and Park Young-jin are reuniting as MCs for the first time in about 16 years since they met on KBS's 'SangSang Plus' in 2009.
"Broadcasting is my calling"... Deciding on solo activities due to family opposition
Shin Jung-hwan recently expressed his affection for broadcasting through a YouTube channel. On the channel, he stated, "Broadcasting is my calling and something I must do until I die." He also revealed that he turned down an offer for a terrestrial family variety show due to opposition from his family. Consequently, he indicated his intention to pursue activities solo rather than in a format involving his family.
From Roola Debut to the Present
Having debuted in 1994 with the group Roola and later active as a member of Country Kko Kko, Shin Jung-hwan currently communicates with the public through his personal YouTube channel 'Just Shin Jung-hwan' and the web variety show 'Dak-teo-shin'. Having married in 2014 and having a son, he has recently shared his concerns as a parent, including his child's potential entry into the entertainment industry. Joining a new agency and being selected as a variety show MC serve as the starting signal for his full-scale return to broadcasting.
