5,000 Citizens Run 5km Along the Sunset-Colored Taehwagang River
On the 4th, the banks of the Taehwagang River in Ulsan were filled with the energetic footsteps of citizens. The '2026 Taehwagang Run-Set Festival,' co-hosted by BNK Kyongnam Bank and ubc Ulsan Broadcasting, was held. This event was designed as a citizen-participatory festival that combines 'Run' (walking or running a 5km course against the backdrop of the beautiful Taehwagang sunset) and 'Set' (enjoying various performances).
Participants started from the stage at the Taehyogyo Bridge bank and completed an approximately 5km course, turning back at the Simnidaebat Bridge, Taehwagang Grand Park, and the Taehwagang National Garden Information Center. The event was a great success, with about 5,000 citizens who gathered through pre-registration and on-site registration, along with key figures including Kim Tae-han, President of BNK Kyongnam Bank, Lee Jung-hwan, President of ubc Ulsan Broadcasting, Cho Yong-sik, Superintendent of the Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education, and National Assembly Member Kim Tae-gyu.
Convenience facilities for citizens were also provided throughout the event site. The 'Oasis Booth,' which offered free ice cream and drinks to cool down from the heat, received a great response from participants. Additionally, a 'Voice Phishing Prevention Promotion Booth' was operated to protect local residents from the recent surge in financial crimes. Citizens acquired practical financial safety knowledge by solving OX quizzes or receiving one-on-one on-site consultations at the booth.
The Heat of 'Run-Set Concert' Featuring Performers like Lee Chan-won
Citizens who completed the 5km course continued the festival's excitement through the subsequent 'Run-Set Concert.' On this day, talented singers including Lee Chan-won, Shin Dae-yang, Park Mi-won, Song Seong-ho, and Choi Jung-won took turns on stage to perform. Along with the concert, various side events such as a lucky draw with large home appliances as prizes and food trucks added to the enjoyment of the participants.
Kim Tae-han, President of BNK Kyongnam Bank, stated regarding the purpose of the event, "We organized this festival to help the citizens of Ulsan lead healthy and happy lives." He continued, "I hope they spend an energetic day leisurely strolling along the Taehwagang riverbank amidst the sunset and fully enjoying the performances of the invited singers. BNK Kyongnam Bank will continue to actively contribute to realizing 'Ulsan, where citizens are the masters.'"
This festival is evaluated as an example showing a corporate philosophy of breathing with and coexisting with the local community beyond simply pursuing profit. The natural scenery of the Taehwagang River, the healthy activities of the citizens, and high-quality cultural performances combined to present a special day to the citizens of Ulsan.
