Mimiminu's Korea University 'GPA Analyzer' filming postponed indefinitely
The filming of 'GPA Analyzer' at Korea University, the alma mater of YouTuber Mimi Miminu, has been indefinitely postponed due to a lack of applicants. The causes are communication errors by the production team and a shortage of applicants.
Filming at Alma Mater Cancelled Due to Lack of Applicants
The filming of 'GPA Analyzer,' a content series intended to be filmed at YouTuber Mimiminu's (Kim Min-woo) alma mater, Korea University, has been cancelled. The filming, which was scheduled for July 11, was cancelled at the request of Mimiminu's channel team.
The Korea University Student Council officially announced the cancellation of the filming through its social media channels recently. The Student Council stated that there had already been confusion during the first round of participant recruitment in late April due to communication issues between the production team and the Student Council's Interim Central Executive Committee. Although a recruitment notice that had been confirmed was posted, a situation occurred where the notice was halted on the same day due to internal communication errors within the production team.
The problem recurred during the second round of participant recruitment held afterward. Despite significant interest from many students, the production team determined that there were not enough applicants to proceed with the filming. Mimiminu's side considered extending the recruitment period but decided on an indefinite postponement, judging that it might cause further confusion for the students.
The Mimiminu channel production team bowed their heads in apology through a statement, saying, "We sincerely apologize for the confusion caused by internal communication errors during the first recruitment." They added, "Although many showed interest during the second recruitment, we had to inevitably postpone the filming as there were not enough applicants."
Student Council Apology and Compensation... Mixed Online Reactions
Follow-up measures have also been prepared for the students who experienced confusion due to this cancellation. The Korea University Student Council expressed its apologies, stating, "Regardless of the reason, we are deeply sorry for causing continuous confusion to our fellow students." Mimiminu's side plans to provide gift certificates to the applicants from both the first and second rounds as a small token of compensation.
The Student Council maintains the position that they have not completely given up on producing this content. They plan to resume production of the postponed content following future discussions.
As the news of the sudden cancellation spread, various reactions emerged across online communities and social media. Some netizens remarked, "I heard recruitment at other universities ends quickly; it's surprising that there were not enough applicants at his alma mater," noting that student interest was lower than expected. Another netizen expressed disappointment, questioning, "Wasn't the Student Council's promotion insufficient?"
On the other hand, some opinions followed such as, "It's not a cancellation but just an indefinite postponement, so I will wait for the next opportunity," or "It seems the production team made a good decision to prevent further confusion." Mimiminu is a university-specialized creator who has communicated with students by visiting various universities through the 'GPA Analyzer' series, which covers college students' grades and campus life.
Summary of Events
This situation dates back to last April. At that time, the production team and the Korea University Student Council's Interim Central Executive Committee finalized and posted the recruitment notice, but confusion occurred when the notice was halted on the same day due to internal communication errors within the production team.
Afterward, preparations for filming continued with a second round of recruitment, but as not enough applicants gathered ahead of the filming scheduled for July 11, the production team made the final decision to postpone indefinitely instead of extending the recruitment period.
