Jung Yoon-ha, Hyunri, and Okada of 'Babylon' target Lee Dong-wook and Kim Hye-jun
Disney+ 'A Shop for Killers Season 2' still cuts of Jung Yoon-ha, Hyun-ri, and Masaki Okada released. Premiering on July 22.
The emergence of 'Babylon', the mercenary organization chasing Jian and Jinman
The Disney+ original series 'Killer's Shopping Mall Season 2' has announced the beginning of a full-scale war. Expanding the worldview established in Season 1, the new forces of the global mercenary organization 'Babylon' have revealed themselves.
This season depicts the process of the Babylon East Asia branch landing in Korea to capture Jian (played by Kim Hye-jun), who has become the new representative of Murder Help, and Jinman (played by Lee Dong-wook), who has returned from the brink of death. As the Babylon forces begin to move against Jinman and Jian, key figures from the East Asia branch initiate a massive war against Murder Help.
The released stills feature the new faces of Babylon. Jung Yoon-ha, playing the role of 'Kusanagi', the head of the East Asia branch, is a character who possesses both confident composure and sharp sensitivity. Driven by an intense desire for power, her persona changes drastically depending on the situation.
Hyun-ri, playing the team leader 'Q' who commands the operation site, overwhelms the atmosphere with a heavy charisma that maintains composure in any situation. Additionally, the strength of Babylon has become even more formidable with the addition of Okada Masaki as the ace 'Jay', who possesses exceptional combat instincts. Jay is a new style of character never seen before, adding color to Season 2.
They begin a counterattack against the protagonists of Season 1, who managed to dismantle Babylon's forces. This stylish action series, Season 2, will first release episodes 1 and 2 through Disney+ on July 22.
Jung Yoon-ha's method of building 'Kusanagi' through the study of language and identity
Jung Yoon-ha continued research beyond simple acting to ensure the reality of the character 'Kusanagi'. Kusanagi is a character who speaks English, Japanese, and Korean fluently.
Jung revealed her concerns regarding the character's consistency, stating, "I heard that using different languages brings out a different identity depending on the culture." To maintain a single identity as one person, she devoted herself to the task of making the tones of English, Japanese, and Korean as consistent as possible. She showed tenacity by even searching for related academic papers for this purpose.
Her impression upon first encountering the scenario was also unique. Jung expressed satisfaction with the work's completeness, saying, "When I first received the scenario, it was interesting because the elements connecting to Season 1 were set very densely." Along with expressing that joining this project was an honor, she shared that she pushed herself to portray a unique and intense Kusanagi.
Hyun-ri's determination to focus on action by gaining 5kg of weight
Hyun-ri underwent physical changes to increase the quality of the action in this work. To demonstrate the heavy charisma and action capabilities required of team leader 'Q', she volunteered for rigorous training even before filming began.
Hyun-ri explained her attitude toward the work, saying, "As it is a project I love so much, I felt a great sense of responsibility not to disappoint the viewers." Especially since action was the key, she said, "I thought very much about the need to perform the action well."
She spent a lot of time on exercise and action training before filming and focused on building her body throughout the filming period. Hyun-ri shared, "I continued to build my body even during filming. I gained about 5kg, mostly in muscle." Such efforts by Hyun-ri add weight to the movements of the cold-headed team leader 'Q'.
Okada Masaki, who performed action without a stunt double, and the release schedule
The joining of Japanese actor Okada Masaki symbolizes the global expansion of Season 2. He presents a new style of killer as the ace 'Jay', who has a free-spirited personality and excellent combat instincts.
Okada Masaki's passion on set was a hot topic among the staff. Martial arts director Jeon Jae-hyung evaluated him, saying, "He is an actor who absorbs everything like a sponge the more you teach him." He personally performed many action scenes without a stunt double.
'Killer's Shopping Mall Season 2' consists of a total of 8 episodes. Episodes 1 and 2 will be released first on Wednesday, July 22. Thereafter, two new episodes will be released every Wednesday through Disney+.
