Lee So-ra, the behind-the-scenes story of her personally calling Jannabi's Choi Jung-hoon to request a new song
Lee So-ra, making her comeback after 7 years, showcased her new song stage on 'The Seasons,' which she personally commissioned from Jannabi's Choi Jung-hoon.
Singer Lee So-ra sent a direct love call to Jannabi's Choi Jung-hoon for her comeback stage after seven years. On the KBS 2TV 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung's Earphone Boyfriend' broadcast on the 17th, Lee So-ra, Crush, Kwon Jin-ah, and Tomorrow X Together (TXT)'s Yeonjun appeared to showcase their diverse stages.
In this broadcast, Lee So-ra performed her new song 'I'll Forget Your Face,' released after seven years, as her first track. For this song composed by the band Jannabi, Lee So-ra received the melody in March and completed the lyrics in May. Regarding the recording process, she shared, "I didn't sing it many times, so I'm not sure if my feelings were well conveyed to the audience."
The Love Call to Choi Jung-hoon and Behind-the-Scenes of Non-face-to-face Work
Lee So-ra's proactive steps led to the birth of the new song. Unlike her usual custom of releasing love songs in autumn or winter, Lee So-ra wanted to release a song this summer and focused on Jannabi's musicality. After listening to all of Jannabi's albums, Lee So-ra directly called vocalist Choi Jung-hoon and sent a love call, asking, "Shall we do one sad love song together?"
After receiving the song, the work proceeded entirely non-face-to-face. Lee So-ra wrote the lyrics while communicating with Jannabi only through messages without meeting them in person. MC Sung Si-kyung shared a similar situation, mentioning his experience of not even knowing the contact information when he remade Seo Taiji's song in the past. Sung Si-kyung recalled that at that time, he never met Seo Taiji and did not have his contact information.
Jannabi sent a surprise video message expressing their respect for Lee So-ra. They showed their affection, saying, "It was a great honor that cannot be compared to any achievements we have had while making music so far," and requested a meeting, saying, "Please buy us something delicious when you have time." In response, Lee So-ra sang Jannabi's representative song 'She' reinterpreted with her own color as a reply song. She added that while working as a special DJ for MBC Radio 'Two O'Clock Date' recently, she listened to and liked Jannabi's song so much that she even practiced it alone.
In a pre-interview, Lee So-ra made the studio burst into laughter by describing Sung Si-kyung's appearance as a 'sink countertop.' She explained, "I wanted to express that he looks like smooth marble or porcelain, but the word that actually came to mind was sink countertop."
Kwon Jin-ah's Rock Transformation and Yeonjun's 'Big Legend Trainee' Days
Kwon Jin-ah showcased a rock style different from her existing image. Following a rock version arrangement of her existing song 'Something is Wrong,' she passionately sang the high-difficulty song 'She's Gone' while kneeling on stage. This was a choice to show the musical direction contained in her third EP 'SAVE ME.' Regarding this album, Kwon Jin-ah explained, "I filled the entire album with sound. When I really have something to say, I found that I needed the sound of an electric guitar."
Behind-the-scenes stories of the stage preparation were also revealed. Kwon Jin-ah, who drew attention in the past for reinterpreting BLACKPINK's Jennie's 'like JENNIE' during a solo concert, revealed that she recruited choreographer Honey J at the time and performed a mega crew performance with 14 dancers. In particular, she poured such passion into preparing that she personally visited the place that makes outfits for Rosé and Jang Won-young to prepare them. Through the first stage of her new song 'MONSTER' on this day, Kwon Jin-ah announced her plans for rock festival and concert activities in the second half of the year.
Crush stepped up as the protagonist of the duet corner 'Two People' and sang Echo's 'Happy Me' with Sung Si-kyung. Crush completed an impromptu duet stage by mentioning the situation when Sung Si-kyung collaborated with Indonesian singer Lysea to perform 'Beautiful' in the past. The two shared stories of past collaborations that were discussed but halted, and promised to pursue future musical work again. Crush responded to Sung Si-kyung's suggestion by saying, "I won't lose."
Tomorrow X Together (TXT)'s Yeonjun performed Michael Bublé's 'Home' live, which was the first time his skills were recognized during his trainee days. Yeonjun recalled his past when he was called 'Big Legend Trainee' (Big Hit Legend Trainee) for taking first place in all evaluations during his trainee days. Having devoted himself to practice so desperately that he even kept military enlistment in mind at the time, he said, "In the end, practice is the answer."
Yeonjun showed intimacy by sharing his recent interest in cooking and mentioning that he enjoys Sung Si-kyung's 'Shin Sae Ramen.' He concluded the stage by performing a dance challenge for the new song 'Ice Cream' with Sung Si-kyung.
