Jang Min Wook confesses to going on a trip while hiding the fact of his divorce from his mother

Neurologist Jang Min Wook revealed the inner story of how he could not bring himself to tell his mother about the pain of his past divorce. Having recently drawn attention by announcing his remarriage to actress Kang Seong Yeon, he appeared on MBN's 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' to calmly share the ups and downs of his life and his new happiness.

During the broadcast, Jang Min Wook was moved to tears while watching a VCR of actress Hong Ji Min's family trip with her mother, who is suffering from dementia. Watching Hong Ji Min's mother being unable to recognize her own wedding or even her daughter's face, he recalled his own past. Jang Min Wook began by saying, "I went through the pain of divorce once," and confessed, "When I got divorced, I couldn't tell my mother the fact for quite a long time."

A connection that began with treating his mother-in-law's headaches

The meeting between Jang Min Wook and actress Kang Seong Yeon began at a hospital. As Kang Seong Yeon's mother visited the hospital where Jang Min Wook works due to severe headaches, the two first met as doctor and patient guardian. Jang Min Wook explained the situation at the time, saying, "My current mother-in-law visited because her headaches were very severe, and we met as doctor and guardian."

The two were sharing similar pains. Kang Seong Yeon had just gone through a divorce, and Jang Min Wook was in the same situation. Combined with the fact that their elderly parents were unwell, the distance between the two grew closer. Jang Min Wook added, "My wife hadn't been long since she experienced the pain of divorce, and I had that pain as well. Since my parents are elderly and sick, I found myself treating them with even more kindness." The cast members burst into laughter seeing Jang Min Wook taking care of both his mother-in-law's health and his wife's heart.

The divorce he couldn't tell his mother, a late resolution

Jang Min Wook recalled the memory of going on a trip with his mother while hiding the fact of his past divorce. At that time, his mother, completely unaware of her son's divorce, reportedly asked, "Why did you come alone?" Jang Min Wook recalled the memory, saying, "Since my mother didn't know (about the divorce) back then... she said she really liked that time."

Jang Min Wook shed tears at his mother's pure demeanor. Along with the guilt of having to hide the divorce from his mother, he expressed his determination to take proper care of her now. He said, "I made a resolution to go on such a trip with her (my mother) once again." This resonated with viewers as it coincided with the image of Hong Ji Min caring for her mother, who is losing her memory due to dementia.

Happiness found as a father of two children

Kang Seong Yeon, who married a famous jazz pianist in 2012 and had two sons, faced a breakdown of her marriage in 2023. Later, this past May, Kang Seong Yeon announced the news of her remarriage to Jang Min Wook, introducing him as "the person who embraced my aching heart." Through social media, Kang Seong Yeon had expressed her intention to move past the pains of the past and build a solid happiness now.

Jang Min Wook found new vitality in life through remarriage. He expressed deep satisfaction with his current life, embracing two children through his remarriage to Kang Seong Yeon. Jang Min Wook said, "I am feeling the greatest happiness of my life while raising the children these days," and added, "It is almost unbelievable that such happiness could come to my life again."
