Matchmaking Agency Grade 6 Yang Sang-guk "I want to get married within this year"
44-year-old comedian Yang Sang-guk, who was rated 6th grade by a matchmaking agency, begins a romance project with the goal of getting married this year on 'Lovers of Joseon'.
Comedian and car racer Yang Sang-guk, who received a 'Grade 6' rating from a marriage information agency, has announced his goal to get married within this year. Due to his age of 44 and the professional nature of being a freelancer, he was classified in the lowest tier of the marriage market, but he has chosen to face the challenge head-on.
TV CHOSUN's 'Lovers of Joseon' will reveal the process in its upcoming broadcast on the 20th at 10 PM, where the '6 Can Do It' members, including Yang Sang-guk, undergo their first romance matching with four mysterious women. This broadcast is a documentary-style variety show capturing the stories of men racing toward the realistic goal of marriage.
The reality of 'Grade 6' notified by the agency CEO
The reality Yang Sang-guk faced before taking steps toward marriage was cold. He personally visited a marriage information agency for a consultation to confirm his objective standing. During the consultation, Yang Sang-guk directly asked how his grade would be determined.
The CEO of the marriage information agency notified him that he effectively falls into 'Grade 6', which is essentially last place. Along with educational background, the lack of stability inherent in being a freelancer was a decisive factor. Industry analysis suggests that in a matchmaking-oriented marriage market, not many people prefer these conditions.
Confidence and a twist as a car racer
Yang Sang-guk was not intimidated by this evaluation. As the leader of '6 Can Do It', he stepped into the first romance matching and showed overwhelming confidence during his self-introduction. He revealed his background as both a comedian and an active car racer, adding that he recently took 1st place in a professional race.
Yang Sang-guk declared to the female participants, "I don't think words are important. I will show you through my actions." This attitude drew applause from the female participants on site and the '6 Can Do It' members participating with him, including Hong Kyung-jun, Ilhan New, Shim Soo-chang, and Sim Jae-won. He emphasized proving himself through practical results rather than wrapping things up with words.
"I want to get married within this year" — The determination of a 44-year-old
The questions during the matching process were direct. One female participant asked when he would want to get married if he found a partner he liked. Yang Sang-guk replied, "Normally, I'd want to joke and say 'tomorrow,' but sincerely, I want to do it within this year."
The female partner showed surprise, noting that only half of the year is left, but Yang Sang-guk showed firm determination by mentioning his age of 44. He made it clear that now is the right time to move for marriage, saying, "Since I am at an age, I don't think it's a time to delay." He also mentioned regarding marriage preparations, "I believe it can happen in a short time if we just understand each other."
A romance journey in Gyeongju with '6 Can Do It' members
In this project, men from various backgrounds have joined besides Yang Sang-guk. Comedian Hong Kyung-jun, actor Ilhan New, former baseball player Shim Soo-chang, and actor Sim Jae-won join as members of '6 Can Do It'. As a group of Grade 6 men with different stories, they begin their full-scale romance journey in Gyeongju.
During his self-introduction, Yang Sang-guk showed confidence, saying, “My original profession is a comedian, and I am also active as a car racer. I just came back from taking 1st place in a professional race the day before yesterday. I don't think words are actually important to the ladies. I will show you through my actions.” Regarding the timing of marriage, he replied, “Normally, I'd want to joke and say 'tomorrow,' but sincerely, I want to do it within this year,” and shared his inner thoughts as a 44-year-old single man, saying, “Since I am at an age, I don't think it's a time to delay.”
