Actor Jeon Min-ki's scene where he overcomes sexual conflict with a perfectionist father and shares a tearful reconciliation in MBN's 'Namui Jip Gwihan Gajok' has been released.
Actor Jeon Min-ki revealed the emotional rift he had built with his perfectionist father over decades and reconciled through tears. In the MBN program 'Precious Family of Others' broadcast on the 21st, Jeon Min-ki visited his 1,000-pyeong family estate with his wife, Jeong Mi-nyeo, to sit face-to-face with his father.
During a conversation with his mother, Jeon Min-ki opened up about his true feelings regarding his father. He confessed that his resentment gradually built up because his father was a perfectionist who would not tolerate mistakes or childishness, and was overly conscious of how others perceived him.
Communication Limited Only to Grades
The fact that communication with his father was limited solely to academic grades left a deep wound for Jeon Min-ki. Recalling those times, Jeon Min-ki said, "He always scolded me by only looking at the results," and added, "During puberty, I intentionally gave up studying and rebelled, thinking, 'If I don't study, Dad will be in pain.'"
While speaking with his daughter-in-law Jeong Mi-nyeo, the father explained the circumstances that made him unavoidable in being strict with his son. He revealed that because he had to balance work and study to support the family, he ended up being even harsher when he saw his son, who could study in a much better environment than he could, neglecting his studies.
Conflicts So Intense He Fled to the Rooftop
There were moments when the conflict reached its peak. This was the incident where the rebellious Jeon Min-ki fled to the apartment rooftop to escape his father's scolding. At the time, the father said, "I felt like I might lose something even greater than grades," and noted that he decided to change his mindset because of that incident.
Upon hearing the father's sincerity in his efforts to be close to his son, Jeong Mi-nyeo shed tears.
"I am a Zero-Point Dad": A Reconciliation Where Regret and Sincerity Meet
Jeon Min-ki and his father sat together and continued their honest conversation. The father first brought up the past when he only pressured his son regarding his studies during his school years. Watching Jeon Min-ki taking care of his grandson, the father expressed regret over his strict parenting style, saying, "Seeing what you do for your grandson, I am a zero-point dad."
Facing the pain hidden behind his son's rebellion, Jeon Min-ki shed tears, unable to continue speaking, saying, "Dad, you were sick, I just want you to be healthy." The father and son cried together as they confirmed each other's true feelings.
