Gong Hyo-jin and Jung Joon-won, subtle chemistry in 'Married Woman Killer' pictorial

Actors Gong Hyo-jin and Jung Joon-won have released a pictorial that seems to perfectly capture the setting of MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Married Woman Killer'. At the photoshoot for the August issue of fashion magazine 'ELLE', the two created a mysterious yet witty atmosphere against the backdrop of a mansion, offering a preview of their relationship in the drama. In the series, Gong Hyo-jin plays Yoo Bo-na, a killer who punishes malicious criminals while also being an ordinary wife, and Jung Joon-won plays Kwon Tae-sung, a reporter who tracks her identity.

In an interview following the photoshoot, Gong Hyo-jin shared her perspective on the work. She defined 'Married Woman Killer' as "a work that felt like a hero genre to me." The core of the character lies in the struggle of Yoo Bo-na, who must simultaneously fulfill the everyday roles of a mother, wife, and daughter-in-law, and the extreme profession of a killer. Gong Hyo-jin emphasized the character's multi-dimensional nature, stating, "As an actress, it is difficult to define whether the Yoo Bo-na who lives her days fully for her family or the Yoo Bo-na who is a killer is the real one, or if there is no falsehood, but that is the charm of the drama."

The reason for choosing the project lies in the way new cases erupt every episode and are subsequently resolved. Gong Hyo-jin said, "Not only is there the fun of poetic justice, but mothers, married women, and those about to marry will be able to feel a sense of catharsis through Bo-na's life." The drama deals with the work-life balance of a working mom living as a killer. Written by Kim Eun-hee and directed by Yoon Jong-ho and Kim Ji-hun, it will premiere on the 31st at 9:50 PM.

Jung Joon-won's Trust and Lee Sang-yi's Tense Point of Interest

Through his character Kwon Tae-sung, Jung Joon-won reflected on the meaning of family. He stated, "From Tae-sung's perspective, it was ultimately a story about family," adding, "I tried to understand the character by focusing on the love for family and how to protect precious people." The reasons Jung Joon-won decided to appear were the fun of the script and the chemistry with senior actress Gong Hyo-jin. He added, "The script was so fun that I felt it was a work I would definitely want to watch even if I didn't act in it. Above all, the biggest reason was being able to act with senior Gong Hyo-jin. I had faith that she would naturally accept whatever kind of acting I did."

Regarding their acting chemistry, Gong Hyo-jin also said, "The more I see Joon-won, the more charming an actor he is. When you see him act, he immediately gives the impression of being 'good,' and for an actor, there is no greater strength than that." Jung Joon-won responded, "I haven't expressed it much, but his presence alone was a huge source of strength. Knowing that he is an actor who is more sincere about acting than anyone else, I felt reassured throughout our time acting together."

Lee Sang-yi, who plays the role of Lee Dong-jin, teased the tension between the characters. Lee Sang-yi explained, "From Dong-jin's perspective, Kingfisher is also a friend's wife, but since she is a criminal he has wanted to catch for a long time, the tense subtlety arising from that gap is the point of interest."
