Wavve confirms September release for 'The Community 2'
Wavve original "The Community 2: Invisible Hand" is set to be released in September. It is a survival trading show based on market principles.
Wavve will exclusively release the social experiment survival variety show 'The Community 2: The Invisible Hand' this September. While its predecessor, 'The Thought Verification Zone: The Community,' focused on clashes of values such as politics, gender, and class, this season centers on 'trading' for survival and prize money.
The teaser poster released on the 29th features participants spread out with documents and laptops around a massive white table. Participants dressed in different colors—white, blue, red, and black—are seen holding their positions from an overhead perspective. At the top of the poster, a community entry notification reads, "Welcome to the Free Trade Zone."
Based on the authority and resources assigned to them, participants must establish a new order within the Community Town. Amidst repeated conflicts and choices, continuous trading for survival will take place.
A Community Town Driven by Market Principles
The subtitle for this season, 'The Invisible Hand,' signifies that the autonomous trading and choices of the participants will determine the direction of the community. Market principles, formed through individual desires and voluntary transactions, will be the core theme of this season.
Participants, each holding different resources, will compete for survival and the prize money. The show poses questions about the dilemmas they will face and whether they can uphold their beliefs even in the face of survival and profit. The production team stated, "To repay the overwhelming support shown for Season 1, we have designed an even more sophisticated and intriguing stage. Please look forward to the unpredictable developments driven by human desire and choice amidst the constant trading for survival."
Season 1's Achievement: Ranked No. 1 in Driving New Paid Subscriptions
'The Thought Verification Zone: The Community' gained significant momentum through word-of-mouth after its initial run. During its broadcast period, the daily new paid subscription driver index rose more than fourfold compared to the average, ranking first among all Wavve programs in driving new paid subscriptions.
The show also received critical acclaim. It won the Best Variety/Documentary program award at the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards and was nominated for Best Variety Program at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards. Season 1, which branded itself as Korea's first 'ideology survival' show, captured the process of participants with extreme values regarding politics, gender, and class forming power structures. Building on the success of its predecessor, Season 2 has been produced with an expanded worldview and will be released exclusively on Wavve in September.
