Kang Seok-hwa, a member of the group WEi, has concluded his long journey on the musical stage. As the final performance of the musical '6 O'Clock Off' took place on July 25, behind-the-scenes glimpses of Kang's final show, in which he played the role of 'Jang Bogo,' captured the attention of fans.

Kang Seok-hwa devoted himself to rehearsals for approximately four months since last March for this production. He candidly shared the technical and psychological challenges he faced while preparing for this show. To portray the character 'Jang Bogo,' he had to simultaneously master the unique vocalizations of musicals and the tone of everyday dialogue. In particular, he confessed to experiencing significant confusion while learning various vocal techniques, as he also had to balance the role of a band vocalist.

"It took a lot of time to bring out what was inside me to express the character well," Kang said. "I was so stressed that I couldn't sleep properly because the character wasn't fully formed, but thanks to the detailed feedback from the director and staff, I was able to finish successfully." He suggested that the intense time spent going beyond simply singing to align himself with the character served as the foundation for this performance.

On the final stage, Kang Seok-hwa left his regrets behind and expressed his gratitude to the audience. "Time passed so quickly that I wasn't prepared for what to say," he said, revealing his overwhelmed emotions. He added that this production held even more special meaning because, unlike typical musicals, it was a stage where he could communicate directly with the audience. He reaffirmed his love for the stage, stating that the audience's support gave him the courage to do even more in the future.

Even during the post-show greeting, Kang Seok-hwa did not forget his affection for his fans. "I was worried that I might cry if I ran through a simulation in my head, but I think I spoke bravely," he said, comforting himself. He continued, "Only when there is a goodbye like this can a new hello be born," promising to return to the stage with an even more impressive presence.
