Bora, Solo Challenge After 16 Years... A 'Period' of Parting Captured with Woody

Bora, from the group SISTAR, has declared her leap as a full-fledged solo singer. Her steps, preparing to stand alone for the first time since her debut, are reaching a musical inflection point.

Appearing on KBS 'The Seasons S9', Bora took the stage with singer Woody to present her new song 'Period'. This stage is deeply meaningful as the two artists revealed a song they worked on together following their recent connection through a podcast. Through this broadcast, Bora expressed her determination regarding her solo activities, which she is attempting for the first time in approximately 16 years since her debut in 2010.

"Prepared like a trainee" Bora reveals standing alone after 16 years

Bora formalized her new beginning as a solo singer on this broadcast. She stated, "I started this project to establish myself as the singer Bora," adding, "I have never done solo activities before." For her, who has continued group activities for the long period of 16 years, this solo activity is read as an important starting point to build her own musical color beyond simple individual activities.

To prepare for her full-scale solo album, Bora shared that she is making efforts by comparing herself to a 'trainee'. She said, "I am taking vocal lessons hard lately for the solo album, and I am also practicing dancing as I am trying hard to do well again." In particular, she showed a serious attitude toward achieving a high-quality stage by sharing her feelings of having practiced day and night for several days for the performance shown on this stage.

New song 'Period' sung with Woody, singing of the end of a breakup

The highlight of the stage was the new song 'Period' sung by Woody and Bora together. This song, a collaboration between the two artists, uses the motif of a 'period' to unfold the moment a relationship between lovers comes to an end. The content of the song contains the pain and decision of a breakup that one does not want to make but eventually must make.

The two presented a sorrowful yet restrained sensibility in accordance with the atmosphere of the song. Immersing herself in the emotion of the song, Bora sang the process of parting, leaving the past behind and returning to one's own place. Woody also completed the narrative of the song by breathing in sync with Bora. This collaboration stood out for its musical communion, as it is the result of the musical conversation the two shared recently through a podcast leading to actual work.

Nervousness in front of Sung Si-kyung and new goals

MC Sung Si-kyung was also present at the stage that day, adding to the tension of the scene. Woody expressed respect toward Sung Si-kyung, calling him "an existence like a legendary Pokémon." He also created a pleasant atmosphere by picking 'having a drink with Sung Si-kyung' as one of the three goals he wants to achieve during his life as a singer.

Bora did not hide her nervousness regarding the stage after a long time and being in front of a senior singer. Showing signs of nervousness until just before the stage, she shared her thoughts after finishing the performance, saying, "It feels like I've shed the tension," suggesting she has grown a step further as a solo singer. Attention is focused on what kind of results Bora's attempt to break out of the framework of group activities and build her own musical world will lead to.
