Joo Sae-byeog Tries an “Ulla Dance” to Win Back Seol Jung-hwan
In a KBS highlight video for A Trap Called Desire, Joo Sae-byeog dances with a child and pretends to be ill in an effort to soften Seol Jung-hwan’s anger. The footage also raises questions about Joo Yi-sa’s past, Eun-seo’s birth mother and former patient Joo Ae-sook.
Joo Sae-byeog turns to a child’s “Ulla dance” in an attempt to win back Seol Jung-hwan in the drama A Trap Called Desire. In a highlight video released by KBS, she borrows the child’s approach to making up after a quarrel to catch Seol’s attention.
“Pat his bottom”: Joo Sae-byeog’s dance with a child
The child says that at kindergarten, when a friend gets upset, dancing “Ulla, Ulla” and gently patting the friend’s bottom can calm them down. Joo Sae-byeog asks Seol Jung-hwan to dance with the child and pat her bottom. Though Seol is flustered and tries to stop her, she insists they will continue until the boss’s anger subsides.
Joo Sae-byeog says people tend to soften when they are sick and uses even this childish tactic to change the mind of Chief Cha, also played by Seol Jung-hwan. In the video, she dances with the child while watching his reaction.
Questions about family ties and the past
The footage also shows tangled relationships among the characters. The chairman praises Chief Cha’s work ability and says store sales rose after a promotional shoot. In a conversation about Director Joo, characters say Director Joo was born into circumstances different from the chairman’s and discuss why Director Joo does not seek more. They also raise the possibility that Director Joo is Eun-seo’s birth mother.
A character recalls going to the hospital with labor pains in the past and raises a suspicion that a woman who lived next door at the time showed favoritism. The characters also try to establish whether a particular patient, Joo Ae-sook, existed, hinting at a possible connection between past events and people in the present.
Hospital care and a former patient
The chairman tells Chief Cha that the chairman’s own mother has been referred to a particular hospital and asks Chief Cha to attend to her regular checkups and other care. The dialogue also describes Hae-ra as someone who can put Chief Cha in a particular position. Meanwhile, a question about whether former patient Joo Ae-sook existed adds to the suspense.
