KickFlip shared details of its teamwork and comeback preparations during an appearance on Jo Hyun-ah’s talk show ahead of the group’s fifth mini-album comeback on Oct. 6.

KYEHOON says “Unfinished” carries a “beautiful” meaning

KYEHOON described how he wrote the lyrics for “Unfinished.” He said the syllable mi in the title is normally written with the character for “not yet,” but that he used the character for “beautiful” this time to convey that “whatever you do, it is a beautiful completion.” He said the company liked the idea and selected the song. KYEHOON added that he was the first member to have a title track selected and had achieved that twice in a row.

The members also joked about KYEHOON’s promise to buy them meat after his song was selected. They teased that all he had done was bring a few Daegu honey rice cakes over Chuseok, calling it an “ambiguous” gesture of thanks. KYEHOON also recounted that he and Kim Donghyun had visited an all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurant that morning. He said Kim Donghyun does not gain weight from eating meat, while he does.

Two title tracks with contrasting moods

KickFlip said the album has two title tracks with contrasting moods. KYEHOON described “Unfinished” as a lyrical song about worries and “King of the World” as a powerful song containing the answer to those worries. “Unfinished” was released first on Sept. 28, ahead of the group’s full comeback on Oct. 6.

During a brief performance of “Unfinished” choreography, KYEHOON and Kim Donghyun showed a short sequence. Jo Hyun-ah noted that the styles of the two songs were completely different as she watched the members perform.

Members show off distinct personalities

Juwang was introduced as a trend-conscious youngest member who closely follows fans’ reactions. He also drew attention with model-like proportions and broad shoulders. Juwang said the members tend to favor their left profiles for filming and often all face left when taking jacket photos.

KYEHOON, the oldest member, said he treats the younger members like friends and has good short-term memory, showing the group’s casual rapport. Kim Donghyun offered Jo Hyun-ah a playful line, saying, “The reason you can’t help but like Jo Hyun-ah is that there’s no middle ground,” bringing lively energy characteristic of an idol group in its second year.
