"What should I do, I'm already fluttering" — YENA's criteria for selecting songs

Singer YENA revealed her musical intuition felt on stage and her thoughts regarding comeback stages.

Appearing on KBS 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung, Your Eardrum Boyfriend', YENA shared her long-standing desire to appear on the program while conversing with MC Sung Si-kyung. YENA mentioned feeling envious while watching former Iz*One members and fellow singers take that stage, revealing that she had been waiting for the day Sung Si-kyung would appear. YENA also shared that she was born in 1999, engaging in a conversation to confirm the age difference with Sung Si-kyung.

YENA said that she places great importance on her intuition during the process of preparing a song. She explained that the sensation felt when first encountering a song leads to the completeness of the stage. YENA revealed an anecdote where she said to a composer, "What should I do, I'm already fluttering," stating that she selects songs that give her the confidence that she can perform well on stage. YENA's mention of saying these words immediately upon hearing a song shows that musical intuition is the beginning of stage preparation.

Of course, she added that not every song goes as predicted. While the emotions felt while preparing a song do not always lead to success, she suggested that preparing a stage based on a song that triggers intuition is part of the process as an artist. YENA mentioned that the feeling that a song will do well is not always correct, and explained the process of judging and analyzing songs according to intuition.

A stage in front of an audience, "A different feeling from a comeback stage"

In her conversation with Sung Si-kyung, YENA conveyed the special weight this appearance carries. Although she has experienced numerous comeback stages, she expressed that the stage of 'The Seasons', where the audience is right in front of her eyes, gives a different feeling than before. YENA explained that it is actually her first time having an audience right in front of her like this, and it feels different from the stages she stood on every time she made a comeback. She added that the experience of standing alone in front of the stage and facing the audience provides a sensation distinct from her previous activities.

Sung Si-kyung encouraged YENA's stage preparation process, mentioning that she is a charming and fun artist who always gives off the impression of being talented.
