Cleansing Oil, Skate and a Season 16 Plan: A Host's Rental Turns Into a Shoot Gone Wrong

A YouTube sketch from Giggle Shop shows a host renting out a home to ease the rent, only for a film crew to bring skate and a cleansing-oil product-placement scene.

A host who rents out his home to cover the rent finds the crew's props more than he bargained for: skate on the menu and a bed sprayed with cleansing oil for a product-placement scene. The comedy comes from a video by the YouTube channel Giggle Shop, and it ends with the rental in confusion.

A rent-saving plan

The video follows a host who has decided to rent out a spacious home he lives in alone, in order to reduce the rent burden. The host offers the home through Airbnb or a similar space-rental service and then receives a film crew. He asks the landlord whether renting out the space is allowed, proposes a 10% fee and settles the arrangement. "No more rent worries," he says, full of expectation.

The crew arrives soon afterward and the booking begins. They want to use the home as the backdrop for a youth romance drama planned to run to season 16, and the host's role is to provide the space and help with the shoot.

Not the innocent youth drama he expected

The shoot is billed as a youth drama, with an actress and an actor trading lines. The host soon meets a string of surprises far from the "innocent youth drama" he had imagined. When the crew explains that first-person filming means no co-star is needed, he offers to stay in the room and help if necessary.

The first hurdle comes from a prop. In a scene where a character serves food, the dish is skate. Worried about the strong smell spreading through the house, the host balks, saying, "Skate probably won't work." The crew raises ventilation and other issues and keeps going, and the host tries to negotiate on condition of an extra fee.

A bedroom scene brings another surprise. When the actor playing the husband sprays oil on the bed, the host stops him and questions what kind of shoot this is. He says what he thought was a youth drama looks like adult content. The crew explains that the scene is a product-placement (PPL) shot using cleansing oil, and says it might consider the matter if he pays an extra fee. As unexpected props and settings pile up, the rental he began in hope of rent income ends in chaos caused by the shoot's sudden variables.
