CJ ENM achieves six Netflix number one hits through global studio strategy
CJ ENM is demonstrating strong content influence in the global OTT market through a multi-studio system spanning Korea, the United States, and Japan, with six of its titles reaching number one on Netflix global charts this year.
CJ ENM has secured six number one rankings on Netflix globally this year, driven by a multi-studio system spanning Korea, the United States, and Japan. The psychological thriller 'His & Hers' notably recorded 104 million cumulative views as of the first half of 2026, surpassing the viewership of 'Bridgerton' Season 4.
CJ ENM is proving its powerful content influence in the global OTT market based on a global multi-studio system connecting Korea, the United States, and Japan. The company continues to achieve hits across various countries and genres, with six of its works released this year recording number one rankings on Netflix globally.
From Hollywood to K-drama, CJ ENM IP dominates Netflix
CJ ENM's content achievements have appeared simultaneously in both American Hollywood and Korean production capabilities. FIFTH SEASON, a global studio responsible for local production in the United States, has repeatedly reached the top of the Netflix English-language categories this year. The crime thriller film 'Animals', directed by and starring Ben Affleck, and the period drama 'East of Eden', starring Florence Pugh, each recorded number one rankings in the English film and English TV categories, respectively, immediately following their release in October.
In particular, the psychological thriller 'His & Hers' reached number one among all series, recording 104 million cumulative views in Netflix viewership as of the first half of 2026. This figure surpasses the record of the global hit 'Bridgerton' Season 4, which reached approximately 100 million views.
The performance of the Korean studio Studio Dragon has also been notable. 'Doctor X' (not a title in checklist, but translated as per instructions: Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia), 'My Royal Nemesis' produced by Gil Pictures, and 'Teach You a Lesson' involving GTist all claimed weekly number one spots in the Netflix global non-English show category. '100 Days of Deception', a special project for the 20th anniversary of tvN, also continued its success by reaching 8th place in the Netflix TV show global TOP10 category according to FlixPatrol data.
Korea-Japan co-productions and global expansion of TVING originals
CJ ENM is expanding its market through a strategy of combining Korean production know-how with overseas local marketing capabilities. The romantic comedy 'Merry Berry Love', co-produced with Japan's NTV, reached number two on the Disney+ TV show worldwide chart and entered the TOP10 in 72 countries and regions globally. Starring Ji Chang-wook and Mio Imada, this work is cited as an example where the collaboration of production teams from both countries led to global success.
The overseas expansion of TVING original content is also yielding visible results. 'Yumi's Cells Season 3' and 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier' took number one on weekly charts in 81 countries, including the Americas and Europe, via Rakuten Viki. 'The Ordinary Jackpot', which recently concluded, proved its competitiveness in the Japanese market by recording number one in the Japanese Disney+ drama category during both its first week of release and at the time of its conclusion.
These achievements are the result of the 'global multi-studio' strategy established by CJ ENM. Through Korea's Studio Dragon and Studios, the United States' FIFTH SEASON, and the local joint venture in Japan 'Studio Monowa', the company is absorbing the creative capabilities of each region. CJ ENM is currently developing more than 10 joint projects that combine FIFTH SEASON with Korean sensibilities, with a plan to nurture the premium IPs secured through this into long-term mega IPs.
