Comedian Yoo Min-sang revealed his honest views on drama preferences and his life-changing works through the recently released video content 'Gae-gijakgi: Drama Edition'. During a conversation with the cast regarding popular dramas from various eras, Yoo expressed his personal likes and dislikes regarding narrative structures and character emotions without reservation.
"Moja Musa: A feeling of being at the end of the world," says Yoo Min-sang's honest impression
Yoo Min-sang shared unique impressions regarding the recently trending martial arts drama 'Moja Musa'. He confessed that although he was interested enough to purchase the script collection, he found it difficult to fully immerse himself while watching. "It was a bit hard to watch," Yoo said, noting, "There were many scenes that gave the feeling of being at the end of the world, with characters constantly saying they are having a hard time or that they are dying."

He added, "It is easier to empathize when the situation is clear, like a terminal illness, but in this drama, it felt as if the world was unfairly picking on me, making it difficult because the direction wasn't clear." He explained that this differed from his personal preference for works with clear narrative directions, such as romance or family affection. "I prefer it when the direction is clear, whether it is romance or family," he continued.
"A mother's catharsis"... The resonance of 'You Have Done Well'
In contrast, Yoo Min-sang and the cast formed a deep sense of empathy regarding the drama 'You Have Done Well'. Yoo focused on the emotional line of the work. "There was a scene where a mother is being looked down upon at a formal meeting for a couple, while her successful son is making her look proud, and then the mother steps in to defend her," he recalled. "From a daughter's perspective, I felt a sense of catharsis as if the mother was acting on my behalf, which brought me to tears."
The cast also empathized with themes related to parental sacrifice. One cast member shared, "I cried a lot because the scene where a father looks at his grown daughter and sees her childhood self was very impressive," noting that the scene made them think deeply of their father. Yoo Min-sang also agreed with the sentiment of the work, stating, "I am weak enough to cry within three seconds when I see themes of parents sacrificing for their children."
From the 90s to the present, a conversation spanning eras of drama
The conversation expanded to classic dramas from the 90s. Yoo Min-sang recalled his childhood spent waiting to watch 'See and See Again', while the cast shared memories of high-rating masterpieces such as 'What is Love?', 'Sandglass', and 'Hur Jun'. In particular, they revisited the drama craze of that era, noting that 'First Love' recorded a viewership rating of 65.8% and mentioning 'Sandglass'.
Meanwhile, Yoo Min-sang also mentioned the recently trending 'sinbyeong'. He concluded the conversation by discussing fan comments left on 'sinbyeong' and his own path as a drama writer alongside the affectionate responses from fans.
