Sound Planet Festival, Japan Tower Records Shibuya Pop-up Opens

K-Festival Pop-up Store Appears in the Heart of Shibuya, Tokyo

'Sound Planet Festival 2026', which excited domestic music fans, has landed in the Japanese archipelago. A global pop-up store will be operated at Tower Records Shibuya, a cultural landmark in Tokyo and a mecca for music fans, until July 19. This marks the first time a domestic festival has collaborated with Tower Records, Japan's largest record retailer, to open a local pop-up.

This pop-up store features a massive collection of albums and official merchandise (MD) from the artists performing at this festival. Led by Kim Junsu (XIA), items from representative Korean musicians such as YB, Thornapple, The Solutions, ONEWE, hrtz.wav, and Dragon Pony can be encountered directly in Japan. Additionally, official MD from Japanese mega-hit artists like ZUTOMAYO, UVERworld, Atarayo, ALI, PompadollS, and NEMOPHILA will be exhibited and sold, which is expected to attract fans from both Korea and Japan.

Moving beyond a simple exhibition, special items available only at this pop-up have also been prepared. New MD items, including bandanas—a symbol of summer festivals—as well as string backpacks and pin button sets, will be unveiled and released for the first time. A special prize event for purchasers has also been arranged for global music fans visiting the site.

The Saple-Fe Project Reborn as a Hub for Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange

This expansion into Japan holds significance beyond a mere event. Rolling Hall, the festival organizer, aims to further strengthen the cultural exchange between Korea and Japan through this project. The winner of 'CMYK 2026', Rolling Hall's rookie discovery project, is already given the opportunity to perform on the stage of Japan's major music festival, 'Summer Sonic 2026', and a joint performance by Korean and Japanese musicians is scheduled for the 26th at Rolling Hall in Hongdae.

Kim Chun-seong, CEO of Rolling Hall, stated, "We hope this series of projects, ranging from support for the Summer Sonic stage to this pop-up store at Tower Records Shibuya, will serve as an opportunity to further solidify the cultural exchange between Korea and Japan. This will be a chance to prove the strong competitiveness of K-Festival and artist IPs in the Asian market."

Meanwhile, the main event of 'Sound Planet Festival 2026' will be held for two days from September 5 to 6 at Incheon Paradise City. The music industry is closely watching how the success of the pop-up store in Japan and the artists' activities will lead to the September stage in Incheon.

Continuous Korea-Japan Music Exchange Projects

This pop-up store is an extension of a series of Korea-Japan cultural exchange projects being promoted by Rolling Hall. Previously, the winner of Rolling Hall's rookie discovery project, 'CMYK 2026', was granted the opportunity to perform at Japan's 'Summer Sonic 2026'.

On the 26th, musicians from both Korea and Japan are scheduled to perform together at Rolling Hall in Hongdae.
