A Life-or-Death Moment in the Elevator, the Reason Why Park Hyun-june Acted

The plot of the KBS2 daily drama ‘Pearl in Red’ has been moving at a rapid pace. In the broadcast on the 16th, a scene was depicted where Park Hyun-june (Kang Da-bin) dramatically saves Baek Jin-ju (Nam Sang-ji), whose life is in danger due to the meticulous scheme of Bak Tae Ho (Choi Jae-sung).

Jin-ju, who lost her father 7 years ago because of Bak Tae Ho, has been strongly demanding a reinvestigation of the case. Bak Tae Ho, attempting to block this, decides to eliminate Jin-ju. The tension rose as Bak Tae Ho showed a despicable smile, certain that if Jin-ju disappears, Kim Dan-hee (Park Jin-hee) will crumble under guilt.

Bak Tae Ho showed meticulousness by targeting Jin-ju, who has a chestnut allergy, making her drink a beverage containing chestnuts, and even removing the allergy medication from her bag. Jin-ju lost consciousness and collapsed inside the elevator. At the time Min-jun called, Jin-ju had already lost consciousness inside the elevator.

Ultimately, it was Hyun-june who saved Jin-ju after she collapsed in the elevator. Hyun-june overheard the conversation between Bak Tae Ho and Detective Yoon (Jang Jin) and realized the plan to kill Jin-ju. At first, he tried to look away, believing Park Min-jun (Kim Kyung-bo) would handle it, but after searching the study and finding documents containing information about Jin-ju's acute chestnut allergy and the location, Hyun-june moved immediately.

Having survived, Jin-ju hoped that Hyun-june saving her was a signal to resolve their misunderstanding. However, Hyun-june's reaction was cold. He spoke harshly to Jin-ju, saying, "I only helped you so we could say our final goodbyes properly. Because we need to end our marriage for sure," and then proceeded to take the wedding ring off Jin-ju's finger.

Hyun-june poured out his anger. He added, "Don't make it like you abandoned me; let it end as if I abandoned you. It's simple since we didn't register the marriage." He declared that since all he received in return for giving her everything was betrayal, he would no longer live expecting things from people or being used. He also added, "Being used like a fool is enough for me."

Jin-ju apologized for her past of using Hyun-june. She responded with tears, saying, "I never abandoned you, nor did I ever think you were useless. You gave me your sincerity like that, and I am sorry for returning it with this kind of sense of betrayal. I hope you can escape this fight even now and live peacefully."

Hyun-june turned his gaze away, revealing his ambition as the owner of Adel Group. He declared that as the son of Chairman Bak Tae Ho, he would fight to take over the group, and that his leniency toward Jin-ju would only last until today. "I will become the owner of Adel Group as Chairman Bak Tae Ho's son. I will live holding onto that goal, not you. I am prepared to fight whoever interferes with my work," he declared. Hyun-june left the scene, leaving behind the words, "Next time, even if you are dying, I won't save you." The two looked at each other and shed tears.

Bak Tae Ho's evil deeds and the preview of Jin-ju's counterattack

Dan-hee, thinking Jin-ju had been kidnapped, went to find Bak Tae Ho and rebuked his atrocity of using Detective Yoon to lure Jin-ju. Bak Tae Ho sneered, saying he was being framed without evidence, and even showed a defiant attitude, claiming that if Jin-ju were to die, it would be Kim Dan-hee's fault. Dan-hee stood her ground, saying she would definitely kill Bak Tae Ho if anything happened to Jin-ju.

Upon learning that Jin-ju was not dead but had gone missing, Bak Tae Ho instructed Detective Yoon to find her and eliminate her no matter what. Yu-na (Cheon Hee-ju) went to find Bak Tae Ho and demanded a chance, saying she would find Jin-ju's whereabouts, hinting at the beginning of another evil deed.
