Actor Hwang Jung-min revealed his son's extraordinary language acquisition skills and quirky overseas adaptation stories. In the video titled 'Three Ajossis' Mouths Opening at a Pub Meeting (ft. It's fun, geez)' uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Choo Sung-hoon' on the 23rd, Hwang Jung-min and Um Moon-seok, the leads of the movie 'Hope', appeared to share family-related episodes.

Hwang Jung-min first brought up an anecdote from a recent trip to Japan with his family. He said his son, who grew up enjoying Japanese animation, claimed to be good at Japanese. While Hwang Jung-min did not believe him at first, he could not hide his astonishment after witnessing his son's skills during the actual trip.

Japanese learned through animation, even handling local reservations

In Japan, the son handled everything from booking accommodations to using the subway and finding a rural ryokan in Japanese without any hesitation. Hwang Jung-min marveled, saying, "I don't know any of it, but he acted just like a native." Choo Sung-hoon, who also appeared, expressed surprise at the son's ability, noting that even he finds the Tokyo subway difficult.

However, there was a characteristic where his conversation was natural, but he could not read the characters. Since he acquired the language through animation, his way of expression was also unique. Hwang Jung-min made the scene burst into laughter by sharing, "He needs to learn how to say 'Let's go quickly,' but he uses animation expressions, saying things like 'Let's go at the speed of light.'"

Son who taught Korean to foreign friends at a Hawaii camp

This method of language acquisition is also connected to past experiences in Hawaii. This happened when his son, who is currently serving in the military, visited Hawaii for summer and winter camps during elementary school. Although the camp was attended with expectations of learning English, the result was different from what was anticipated.

His English skills remained stagnant, and instead, a situation occurred where foreign friends were learning Korean from him. Hwang Jung-min drew laughter by revealing, "English, my foot. Foreign kids learned Korean." Especially when the movie 'Frozen' was popular, the son spread Korean lyrics to his local friends.

The son taught his friends the Korean lyrics for 'Let It Go,' which is 'Da Isseo' (Forget it all). When Hwang Jung-min asked if he had taught it to his son directly, Hwang added that the son confidently replied, "I taught them. They are all good at it." An overseas life intended for education ended up becoming an opportunity to promote Korean culture.
