Equation Combo Battle for Immunity: A Fierce Psychological War Between Two Alliances
In the 'Equation Combo' showdown, where immunity from elimination is on the line, the two alliances engage in an intense battle of strategy and psychological warfare.
A massive showdown has been set to decide the fate of the teams. This Money Challenge will be conducted as a 2-on-2 alliance battle. The winning alliance will be awarded 50 million won in team funds along with immunity for all members. Conversely, the losing alliance will automatically become candidates for elimination and must face a team-versus-team deathmatch, where a loss results in the entire team being eliminated in an extreme high-stakes scenario.
'Equation Combo': A Game Centered on Tile Placement and Mathematical Calculation
The discipline for this confrontation is 'Equation Combo.' Participants must place tiles marked with symbols and numbers on the game board to create as many combos as possible where the equation's value results in a power of 10 (10, 100, 1000, etc.). Each alliance can search through hidden tile envelopes for 15 minutes during Rounds 1 through 4, and for 30 minutes during the final Round 5. Once the search is complete, the finalized game board must be submitted, and no modifications can be made after submission.
The rules of the game are rigorous. A representative player moves pieces in the voting room, cumulatively calculating the equations written on the tiles. During this process, the order of operations (PEMDAS) is ignored; calculations must be performed strictly in the order the tiles are visited. Furthermore, a tile cannot be revisited once passed. Upon completing a combo, the starting tile is removed, and the final destination becomes the new starting point. The final score is determined by multiplying the number of tiles in each combo by the number of zeros in the equation's value, subtracting points for each unused tile, multiplying by the total number of completed combos, and finally adding a 100-point bonus for the longest combo.
The Clash Between Strategic Searching and Combo Maximization Strategies
The alliances engaged in intense mental battles, devising different strategies to secure victory. One alliance demonstrated systematic movement, dividing zones and assigning personnel to increase search efficiency. Specifically, psychological maneuvering unfolded as certain members volunteered to lead the search, while others avoided revisiting checked areas to minimize movement. One player expressed a strong determination to win, stating, "I really wanted to show something this time."
Differences also emerged in the strategies used to construct the game board. Some players proposed a strategy to inflate the final score by increasing the total number of combos. Another player suggested a sophisticated design, creating a symmetrical tile layout to ensure that powers of 10 are continuously generated when traveling back and forth along specific paths. As securing the number of zeros will have a decisive impact on the scoring, the outcome is expected to hinge on the high-level psychological warfare and mathematical calculations surrounding tile placement and equation flow.
