Facing a ruin filled with mold and corroded facilities after being abandoned for seven years, DinDin expressed his desire to quit right from the first shoot. This is the site of the first project for the new variety show 'Our Neighborhood's Golden Age,' which is set to premiere on SBS on Saturday, August 8, at 5:10 PM.

The program aims to be a 'regional revitalization project' that identifies abandoned idle spaces and breathes new life into them as new local hubs. It captures the process of experts visiting sites firsthand to diagnose problems and revitalize areas through everything from space remodeling to content planning. This marks a new challenge for SBS, which has led the trend in regional revitalization variety shows with programs such as 'Baek Jong-won's Alley Restaurant' and 'Hot Place! Neighborhood Cool Spot.'

The 'Salimdan' (Revitalization Team)'s first destination is Jinan County, Jeonbuk State. While the area boasts natural wonders like Maisan Mountain and Yongdam Lake, it is facing the crisis of regional extinction due to population decline and an aging demographic. The target for the Salimdan's revitalization is the former Yongdam Lake Museum, which has been untouched for seven years. The site was far more severe than expected. The interior was covered in mold, facilities were corroded, and the site was a complete ruin with collapsed ceilings and precarious stairs. Upon seeing the scene, DinDin expressed his hesitation, saying, "I don't think this is going to work." To make matters worse, the discovery of a dead bird on-site caused an immediate stir on the set.

The composition of the 'New Neighborhood Salimdan' leading the charge is also noteworthy. Led by captain Lee Kyung-kyu, who guides the team with his extensive experience, the group includes PR Manager Young Tak, Administrative Manager DinDin, and Culinary Manager Lee Won-il, an expert in the food service industry. They will leverage their respective expertise to revitalize the region. Lee Kyung-kyu provides overall judgment, Young Tak focuses on promoting the space and gathering people, DinDin handles on-site operations, and Lee Won-il manages taste and business strategy, working together as a cohesive team.

From Jinan Black Pork Mukbang to Unexpected Legal Hurdles

To find ways to utilize the space, the Salimdan explored various parts of Jinan. After tasting Jinan black pork, Young Tak showcased an unstoppable 'mukbang' (eating show), and after sampling a hidden menu item at the 'Coffee Prince' cafe in Jinan, Lee Won-il suggested making it an official menu item, calling it "the best coffee I've had all year." While they appeared to be making steady progress in identifying the region's strengths and weaknesses to set the project's direction, they hit a crisis when they faced unexpected legal issues amidst what seemed to be a smooth flow.

Moving beyond simple space remodeling to directly tackle the realistic issue of regional extinction, the core of this program lies in how the Salimdan overcomes the obstacles they face and transforms the abandoned museum into a new landmark.
