In the process of preparing ingredients for Kimjang, Kang Joo-eun's parents showed differing opinions regarding the size of the kimchi containers and the amount of Kimjang to be made. According to the video released by TV CHOSUN JOY, differences in perspective between the father, Kang Joo-eun, and the mother were revealed during the process of selecting container sizes while purchasing Kimjang ingredients at the market.

"Small is Not Enough" vs "A Slightly Larger One is Better"... Disagreement Surrounding Container Size

During the market visit, Kang Joo-eun checked the size of the Kimjang containers and inquired if there were smaller sizes available. In response, her father mentioned that if the container is too small, it would be difficult to coat the ingredients, expressing the opinion that it would be better to choose something slightly larger instead. While Kang Joo-eun was thinking of an amount for about two heads of cabbage, her mother took the position that they do not usually make Kimjang in small amounts and that more would be needed.

The father mentioned that he was following the mother's standards regarding the choice of container. In the video, the father showed respect for the mother's wishes, stating that because he has lived according to his wife's standards all this time, if they purchase a small container, a situation might arise where they have to go back to exchange it for a larger one. Ultimately, the family decided to choose a larger container to hold the ingredients.

Preparing Kimjang Using 6 Heads of Salted Cabbage and Green Onions

During the ingredient purchasing process, the family checked the salted cabbage. The amount of salted cabbage confirmed at the market was about 6 heads, and the father considered purchasing additional cabbage to meet the required amount. They also prepared ingredients while mentioning the addition of green onions to the kimchi. Kang Joo-eun mentioned that her father's experienced judgment is helpful when utilizing the market while buying Kimjang ingredients.

After bringing the purchased ingredients home, the mother shared her experience regarding Kimjang containers. Based on her experience making kimchi in Canada in the past, the mother explained that containers of a specific size are necessary. She also added the opinion that it is good to use stainless steel containers for hygienic management.
