YouTuber Ki Eun-se has presented a new attempt to communicate with viewers through books. Through her YouTube channel 'Kieunse Home', Ki Eun-se conducted content reading the book 'When Even I Don't Know What I Want' by author Jeon Seung-hwan.

"Love is not a relationship that calculates loss and profit"... Regarding the essence of love

At the beginning of the video, Ki Eun-se explained the purpose of this content by sharing her experience of falling asleep comfortably while listening to YouTube videos that read books when she couldn't sleep at night. She expressed her hope that viewers would also naturally fall asleep while playing the video like her, saying, "It feels like you can't sleep, and then at some point, you fall asleep without even remembering a single page." She added, "I made this video thinking that on days when you, like me, cannot sleep at night and feel like you will spend a long night tossing and turning, you might play this video, prepare to sleep with me, and at some point, find yourself drifting off into sleep without even realizing it."

She unfolded her perspective on love through sentences from the book. In particular, she questioned the common notion that 'the person who loves more is the weak one.' Quoting the contents of the book, Ki Eun-se explained, "Love is not a relationship that calculates loss and profit, such as who gave how much and who received how much, but a relationship where you want to give everything and then give even more." Furthermore, she pointed out that the person who loved more grows more and becomes stronger when the relationship ends, adding, "The heart to willingly become the weaker one by loving the other person more is actually a heart that only truly strong people can possess."

She then emphasized the importance of the 'attitude of properly accepting' love by borrowing the sentences of Professor Jang Yeong-hee. She mentioned that "if one receives someone's love but regards that love with indifference, or if one becomes rather arrogant because of that love, then that love is truly a sad and wasteful love," noting that the attitude of cherishing and accepting love is as important as starting it. Regarding this, she shared her thoughts, saying, "While before I worried about how to make my sincerity known to the other person to start a love, I have now come to think about how to receive love well, be grateful for it, and cherish and protect it."

Don Quixote's indomitable will..."Losing courage is losing everything"

In the following section, Ki Eun-se changed the topic to the keyword 'courage' by mentioning Cervantes' novel 'Don Quixote'. She spoke about the massive volume of the complete translation of 'Don Quixote' that she encountered while working as a curator and the courage she felt within it. Emphasizing the 'courage to dream impossible dreams' shown by Don Quixote, she said, "If we do not have courage, we will spend our days helplessly, unable to do anything properly." Her explanation is that courage is needed to prevent situations where one cannot even dare to make a dream a reality or hesitates in front of a loved one.

Ki Eun-se added her own experience, emphasizing that when she gave writing lectures, "if you want to write, you must first take courage and write." She expressed caution regarding situations where one cannot act due to self-censorship when comparing oneself to other good writings or due to fear of the eyes and evaluations of others. She mentioned, "A tremendous amount of courage is required for a person who does not write to become a person who writes."

Quoting a sentence from Bernard Werber's novel 'The Ants', she reminded that the mission a human is born with is not something assigned by others but something discovered by oneself. Through the message that "the mission a person is born with is not something assigned by society or other people, but something discovered only by oneself," she delivered the courage necessary for the process of finding meaning in each person's life.
