Kim Sook Reveals Jeju Island House, Featuring a Western-style Home Built After National Cultural Heritage Deregulation
Broadcaster Kim Sook introduced her house on Jeju Island, which she prepared for a month-long solo stay, in a pre-release clip of the MBC variety program 'Where Is My Home'. The house features a design intended to combat Jeju's humidity and includes spaces for outdoor activities like camping and honey harvesting.

The interior and features of the house prepared by broadcaster Kim Sook for her goal of living on Jeju Island for a month have been revealed. According to a pre-release video of the MBC variety program 'Where Is My Home', Kim Sook introduced the house she prepared to stay independently on Jeju Island to the cast members.
A Western-style house that overcame cultural heritage regulations, designed to catch humidity
The Jeju Island house introduced by Kim Sook was found to have faced constraints during the construction process as it is located in an area that was previously designated as a National Cultural Heritage. In the video, Kim Sook explained that there were difficulties in building a modern house because the area was designated as a cultural heritage site, but after the regulations were lifted upon completion, she was able to build a Western-style house. Introducing this house, which represents healing and romance to her, Kim Sook revealed her plan to live there independently for a month.

The design, which takes into account the unique climatic characteristics of Jeju Island, also stands out. Kim Sook revealed that she installed a stove inside the house to solve the severe humidity problem on Jeju Island. This method, chosen for humidity control, is interpreted as an intention to improve the living environment. The cast members showed positive reactions, saying the remodeled exterior looks sophisticated.
Space configuration considering natural honey harvesting and outdoor camping
The exterior of the house captured scenes of harvesting natural honey obtained from nature. The cast members checked the condition of the natural honey by inspecting the honey and beeswax found on-site. The video shows the process of confirming the soft texture of the beeswax along with the sight of honey dripping. The cast members even took the honey from the site directly, saying it was natural honey good enough to be placed on ice cream.

The spatial configuration of the house is linked to outdoor activities. Kim Sook introduced the 'Ul-bu-eok' (outer kitchen) space, which was designed to be used immediately when enjoying camping outside. This appears to be a spatial arrangement made with romantic life and camping on Jeju Island in mind. Kim Sook showed various aspects of the house by introducing spaces that specific cast members might like.
Changes in the living environment through remodeling
The cast members shared their opinions on the sophisticated exterior and interior facilities of the remodeled house. Along with changes to the interior facilities, including the bathroom, the details of the living space personally selected by Kim Sook were introduced, showing her lifestyle on Jeju Island. The cast members reacted that the remodeled appearance possesses good elements to be covered on 'Where Is My Home'.
