A ballad containing a twist narrative where the perspective on the moment of breakup is reversed has been released. 'The Day I Let You Go', a new song by Lee Seong Hyeok announced by Danal Entertainment, takes a structure that begins with the monologue of a speaker announcing a breakup and follows the trajectory of emotions as the song flows.

From announcing a breakup to imagining understanding a lover's heart

The early part of the song unfolds from the perspective of the speaker announcing the breakup. It depicts a situation where happy times turn into boredom, and after accumulated disappointments, the words "Let's break up" flow out. However, at the end of the first verse, the narrative meets a twist. This is because it is revealed that the monologue up to this point was not a sincere announcement of a breakup, but the speaker's imagination of trying hard to understand a lover whose heart has changed.

As it moves into the second verse, the speaker's anxiety deepens. In the bridge section of the song, through the lyrics "Actually, can't I just stay by your side, pretending not to know and just pretending to be happy," the human true intention of wanting to stay by someone's side even while knowing the end is revealed. Reaching the final chorus, the speaker no longer holds onto the other person. Choosing to let go because they loved, the process of resignation and growth is concluded. 'The Day I Let You Go' does not depict resentment toward the person leaving, but rather the resignation and growth of one person who decided to let go because they loved.

The trajectory of emotion built up by piano and strings

The musical composition finely supports the changes in the speaker's emotions. Through an arrangement where real strings and band sounds gradually build up around the piano, the flow of emotions leading from calmness to lingering attachment, and then to deep sadness, is described. Lee Seong Hyeok led the overall song by participating directly in the lyrics, composition, and arrangement, as well as playing the bass and synthesizer. Lee Seong Hyeok led the overall planning and production of the song as the Executive Producer for this work.

The vocals lead the narrative while restraining emotions. It is characterized by capturing the emotions of one person who decided to let go because they love, instead of resentment toward the person leaving. For this work, piano Park Yu-jin, guitar Lee Ui-su, and drums Eun Ju-hyeon participated, and the completion of the song was enhanced by the string performance of Yung String and the string arrangement by Kang Hye-in (Asst. Han Seong-eun). The sound work involved mixing by Jo Jun-seong and mastering by Kwon Nam-woo, and the music video was directed by Jjaltz.
