A 19-hour sleeping bus traveling from Bali to Yogyakarta imposes a fine of approximately 1 million rupiah for defecating in the onboard toilet. The rule exists because the toilet floor is open directly underneath, allowing waste to fall straight down.

A unique "sleeping bus" has drawn attention for the long-distance 19-hour journey from Bali to Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Revealed through JTBC's "Talk Pa One 25 O'Clock," this bus provides specialized services that go beyond simple transportation to handle both accommodation and meals.

Business-class amenities including pillows and chicken with rice for 45,000 rupiah

The sleeping bus is designed with a two-story structure and features private cabin seats. The seats are equipped with pillows and body pillows to aid sleep, and individual monitors are installed, providing an environment similar to a business class seat on an airplane. The fare is around 45,000 rupiah, which has drawn reactions that it is inexpensive considering the convenience of long-distance travel.

Meal services are also included. Passengers on the bus are basically provided with a snack tray; for this journey, a "chicken and rice" menu was served. Specifically, a chicken meal accompanied by sambal sauce, which provides a uniquely local spicy flavor, was provided. During the trip, the bus undergoes a unique process of being loaded entirely onto a ferry to cross over to Java, allowing passengers to experience something akin to a cruise trip.

Toilet defecation ban and 90,000 won fine

The most important thing to note when using the long-distance bus is the toilet rule. A warning sign is posted in the small toilet provided inside the bus prohibiting defecation. If one defecates in the toilet, a fine of approximately 1 million rupiah, which is about 90,000 won, will be imposed.

The reason such a rule exists is due to the structure of the toilet. The floor of the toilet is open directly underneath, creating an environment where waste falls straight down upon defecation. This is similar to the way the Pigeon Train in Korea operated in the past, and it is a point that requires caution from users.

Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site preserving a thousand years of history

Upon arriving in Yogyakarta at the end of the long journey, the Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was visited. As Indonesia's largest Hindu temple complex constructed around the 9th century, it consists of a cluster of 56 temples. While approximately 240 temples existed in the past, the site remains in its current form after undergoing earthquakes and collapses over a long period of time.

With traces of ancient temples remaining among the restored ones, Prambanan Temple boasts a magnificent scale and reveals its historical value having endured for over a thousand years.
