Singer Hyolyn has returned with new music and visuals. Hyolyn has officially kicked off her latest promotions with the release of the music video for "ChecK," the title track from her fourth mini-album, 'OriginaLyn.'
With this new single, Hyolyn showcased her musical prowess by participating directly in the songwriting process. The lyrics were co-written by Lil Eddie and Hyolyn, while the composition credits include Jonathan Yip, Ray Romulus, Jeremy Reeves, Jeff Baranowski, Luke Milano, and Edwin “Lil Eddie” Serrano. The track's arrangement was handled by The Stereotypes and 9am, adding a high level of polish to the production.
Musical Identity Refined Through Direct Songwriting
Through this album, Hyolyn has further solidified her identity as an artist. A lineup of talented domestic and international producers contributed to the project, and Hyolyn's direct involvement in the lyrics helped shape the song's specific message. This approach is seen as a way to experiment with new changes while maintaining her established musical style.
Hyolyn's influence also extended to the music video production. Serving as creative director, she worked alongside Janelle Ginestra to set the visual direction. During the editing stage, she collaborated with Jon Hernandez and Choi Su-yeon to personally oversee the visual outcome.
Sensory Performance and Collaboration with a Star-Studded Crew
Janelle Ginestra choreographed the performance seen in the video, with Kira Leach serving as an assistant choreographer. A group of dancers, including Allyssa Sniff, Amelie Redivo, Ava Martin, Jasmine White, Kylie James, and Mariyah Hawkins, delivered dynamic movements. To complete the video's aesthetic, Jon Hernandez participated as the cinematographer, capturing highly sensory imagery.
The styling and makeup were also handled by a professional crew. Stylist Choi Mi-sun was in charge of the wardrobe, while ARTISICHACHA handled the hair and jungsaemmool inspiration managed the makeup to complete Hyolyn's visual look. This project was supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
