IDID's First Yakiniku Mukbang in Tokyo

Members of the group IDID took to the night streets of Tokyo, Japan, for their very first yakiniku mukbang. The members, including Baek Jun-hyeok, a graduate of the practical arts department at Hanlim Multi Art School, shared their journey of exploring Tokyo's unique scenery in search of delicious food. In this video, released on Friday, May 15, 2026, the members set off toward their yakiniku destination, filled with excitement as they breathed in the Tokyo night air.

The members enjoyed a leisurely stroll, noting similarities between Tokyo's streetscapes and Sindorim in Korea, and expressing admiration for the abundance of vending machines lining the streets. They particularly soaked in the Tokyo night atmosphere, moved by the warm, characteristic glow of the streetlights. The unique vending machine culture in Japan was so intriguing that they even joked, "Should we start a vending machine business?" Throughout the walk, the members maintained a playful mood, teasing one another and engaging in spontaneous antics. One member even gave a witty reaction to the subway melodies and crosswalk BGM echoing through the night streets, remarking, "It feels like a yokai might appear."

Unexpected Encounters on the Streets of Tokyo

During their walk, the members faced an unexpected situation when they struck up a conversation with a local. After gathering the courage to speak to a person following them dressed in an all-black "shadow look," the members engaged in quirky banter, such as asking if the person liked chocolate after learning their name was 'Charlie Des.' However, it turned out the individual was actually Korean. When the person, who had been joking by saying, "Watashi wa Kankokujin... desu yo," revealed their Korean identity, a brief moment of silence passed between them, filled with the unexpected joy of meeting a fellow countryman abroad.

A Full-Scale Wagyu Yakiniku Feast

Upon arriving at their target yakiniku restaurant, the members began their feast in earnest. Searching for a place called 'Ostrea,' the members expressed their anticipation, jokingly claiming they felt like they were losing weight from hunger. Using tablets to carefully select their menu, they focused on the meal by ordering Wagyu beef. They showed great trust in one another's choices, with one member noting, "I think we should just order two of whatever hyung gets." As the ordered Wagyu was served, they added to the joy of the meal with witty wordplay, saying they would "Wagyu-wagyu" (devour) the Wagyu.

The members found great joy not just in the food, but in the act of spending time together and conversing. They shared stories, such as visiting pork rind restaurants with their families or reminiscing about eating samgyeopsal in Korea, leading to natural and flowing conversation. This journey through the night streets of Tokyo concluded as a special dinner, blending delicious food with the delightful chemistry between the members.
