'Colony' VOD Release and Goods Screening Event Following 5.95 Million Admissions

The film 'Colony,' which drew 5.95 million viewers since its release on May 21, is making its way from theaters to home screens. Distributor Showbox began VOD services on major OTT platforms, including Apple TV, U+tv Mobile, Watcha, Wavve, and YouTube, starting on the 23rd of last month.

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Shin Hyun-bin, Kim Shin-rok, and Ko Soo, the film depicts the desperate struggle for survival inside a building sealed off due to an unidentified infection outbreak. After hitting number one at the box office immediately upon release, the production team continued to engage with audiences from the opening date in May through the finale stage greetings held on July 17, Constitution Day.

“Raising the shutters of Dunguri Building one more time” Goods Giveaway Event

A final event is being held to keep the box office momentum going. Showbox announced the schedule for the 'Last Goods Screening' via its official channels with the slogan, "Raising the shutters of Dunguri Building one more time." The event is aimed at fans looking to collect memorabilia of the film's characters.

The screenings will take place on the 17th at CineQ Sindorim, Daegu Gyeongsan, and Gyeongju Bomun branches. After watching 'Colony' at these locations, viewers can receive a set of three character goods by presenting their tickets at the box office. The goods consist of a PET poster of the character Kwon Se-jung (played by Jun Ji-hyun) and accordion postcards.

At Lotte Cinema World Tower, Central Lock, and Anyang Ilbeonga branches, posters of characters Kwon Se-jung, Seo Young-cheol (played by Koo Kyo-hwan), and Choi Hyun-seok (played by Ji Chang-wook) will be given away during screenings on the 18th.

Conflict and Survival Within a Sealed Building

The film 'Colony' tells the story of survivors fighting against the infected. Conflicts unfold among the characters, centered around the research department led by Seo Young-cheol (played by Koo Kyo-hwan). Seo tells Kwon Se-jung (played by Jun Ji-hyun) to experience the same loneliness his father felt, and that he himself has endured. Seo's attempt to pass on the loneliness that has drifted into his own life to others serves as a key element that heightens the tension of the film.

While Kwon Se-jung argues that Seo Young-cheol, the central figure among the "ants," must be killed, other characters ignore her. At this point, Gong Seol-hee, the current wife of Han Kyu-sung, begins to believe Kwon Se-jung, forming an alliance. Their relationship is complicated by the fact that Gong Seol-hee is the current wife with a child, while Kwon Se-jung is Han Kyu-sung's ex-wife.

Lee Bong-seok (played by Lee Jung-ok), the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's counter-terrorism team, attempts to maintain a realistic balance while sealing the building. He moves between the task of saving people and the task of arresting key figures. Meanwhile, the role of a high school bully played by actress Chae Seo-eun, who harasses Lee So-eun, portrays an imperfect human image set against the apocalyptic backdrop.
