Jeong Seon-a concludes 60th performance of 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical'... "Feels like returning to my childhood"

Musical actress Jeong Seon-a shared her reflections after concluding the 60th performance of the musical 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical'. A vlog video released on the official PALMTREE ISLAND YouTube channel captures Jeong Seon-a's process of preparing for the final performance of 'Moulin Rouge!' and the first rehearsal scene for her next work, 'Lempicka'.

In the video, Jeong Seon-a revealed that she has performed 'Moulin Rouge!' approximately 60 times. Regarding her feelings after finishing the show, she mentioned, "It feels like I've returned to my childhood," adding, "For several months, I was brilliantly shining in Diamond Satin (costume), so I was happy myself and I think I heard plenty of beautiful words." She continued, "It was a work that felt like a great burden, but the actors who performed the first-ever roles held the center well and blended together, so we were able to create a truly happy performance."

Jeong Seon-a also spoke candidly about the psychological pressure she felt while continuing the performances. She said, "The pressure to show the best performance seems to grow as I get older and the more performances I do," and "When I hear people around me saying they are having a hard time, even though I was positive, there comes a moment when I also find it very difficult." Furthermore, regarding crying during performances, she shared, "I cry a lot during performances, but it feels like all of that gets washed away." She expressed that because "there is always a tomorrow," the tears during the performance seem to be washed away.

There was also mention regarding diet management. Jeong Seon-a explained that she has been controlling her diet because "if the corset breaks (the body becomes heavy), singing becomes difficult." She revealed that during her dieting period, she mainly ate soft tofu, eggs, and lettuce, adding that she does not eat rice because she does not like it. On the day of the final performance, she was seen consuming salad and eggs, saying, "I am eating this for the first time in three weeks."

First rehearsal of next work 'Lempicka' and the 'meeting' scene

The vlog continues with Jeong Seon-a preparing for her next work, 'Lempicka', immediately following the end of 'Moulin Rouge!'. The video contains a scene where the cast gathers for a 'meeting' on the first rehearsal day of 'Lempicka'. Jeong Seon-a showed the process of heading to the practice room, receiving makeup, and the tension ahead of a new work. Due to the distance to the practice room, Jeong Seon-a, who left her house around 6:50 AM, arrived at the practice room in a tired state.

During the makeup process, Jeong Seon-a showed her understanding of the character by mentioning a "feeling of being a successful woman, a woman of high society." Additionally, ahead of the first rehearsal for 'Lempicka', she showed an unexpected reaction, saying, "For some reason, I'm not nervous today." The video specifically shows her daily life preparing for the next work, such as matching lines and posing in the practice room with fellow actors. In particular, Jeong Seon-a, who took on the role of Tamara, the character in 'Lempicka', introduced herself saying, "I am Jeong Seon-a playing the role of Tamara."

Connections with colleagues and energy behind the stage

The video also captures her interaction with fellow actors. Lee Seok-hoon evaluated Jeong Seon-a, saying, "She has the power of positivity and is a friend who always pulls me up when my energy drops," and "She also sings so well." Jeong Seon-a expressed that she is "really happy" to be performing again with a colleague she met about 13 years ago after 'Ballad of Two Flowers' in 2012.

Jeong Seon-a expressed gratitude not only to the actors on stage but also to the staff working hard behind the scenes. She said, "I want to say a huge thank you to those who are with us, feeling the same trembling hearts for the performance," and specifically toward the audience members who visit the theater every time, she greeted them saying, "With this passionate love, I will wait for 'Moulin Rouge!'." She conveyed her sincerity regarding the past performance, saying, "I think I did my best and worked hard."
