Meta's 'Muse' Reaches No. 1 on App Store... The Differentiator of Virtual Machine (VM)-based 'Actionable AI'
Meta's personal AI agent 'Muse' has reached the number one spot for downloads on the United States App Store within two weeks of its release. Unlike traditional AI models that focus on intelligent chatbots, Muse positions itself as 'Actionable AI' that performs tasks such as shopping, reservations, and negotiations on behalf of the user.
Meta's personal AI agent 'Muse' is drawing market attention after recording number one in downloads on the United States App Store just two weeks after its release. While existing AI models focused on intelligent chatbots that answer questions, Muse has been shown to surpass ChatGPT's market share by positioning itself as 'Actionable AI' that performs shopping, reservations, and negotiations on behalf of the user.
Securing Security and Usability by Providing Individual Virtual Computers (VM)
One of the technical differentiators of Muse is that it provides a separate virtual computer on the cloud for each user. According to the video description and the remarks of the cast on T Times TV, Meta provides a virtual machine called 'Meta Cloud Secure VM' to users and installs Muse within it. Users access this virtual computer from within their own devices to use Muse.
This virtualization strategy offers advantages in terms of security and usability. Unlike existing AI models that were installed directly on a user's PC or a company's work computer, raising security concerns regarding file access, Muse operates in an independent virtual environment. Through this, users can safely perform AI tasks through the virtual machine while maintaining their original operating system (OS) environment.
An 'Action'-oriented Business Model Including Shopping and Negotiation
Muse is a service focused on practical 'Action' beyond simple information provision. According to cases shown in the video, if a user entrusts the sale of a used item to Muse, the AI can proceed with negotiations to determine the price and complete the transaction, such as informing the buyer of the location without the seller's consent. Additionally, it can act as an agent for daily online activities such as negotiating to purchase used cars cheaply or save on telecommunications costs, making travel reservations, and managing bills.
To support this execution capability, Meta has formed partnerships with various companies such as Walmart, GameStop, Sephora, Expedia, and OpenTable. In particular, during the payment process, it increased security by adopting the disposable virtual card function of easy payment services like Stripe. In terms of the business model, in addition to subscription fees, it is building a commerce model that receives transaction commissions from partnered platforms or shopping malls.
The Prelude to the Agent War and Hardware Scalability
Currently, the AI market is shifting from models that answer questions to a competition to preoccupy 'agents' that perform the role of a user's secretary. OpenAI is also responding by announcing 'Dots' targeted at corporate work. Meta's Muse differs from OpenAI's strategy in that it targets the consumer daily life market.
Meta is not stopping at software but is also seeking expansion into hardware. The pendant-shaped AI device 'Muse Charm' aims to be a small device containing personal superintelligence, equipped with a fingerprint sensor, camera, and 5G functionality. This is analyzed as an experimental attempt that could lead to future AI glasses or next-generation smartphone-style devices.
